Dear Avenel Residents:

Below please find some important Community information.

TPC Pond Water Quality Retrofit

As some residents may have noticed, the TPC irrigation pond located behind the village of Player's Crossing is undergoing a planned retrofit. Contractors are accessing the pond on TPC property at the intersection of Turnberry Drive and Beman Woods Way.  A temporary access road leading to the pond, which includes planking and mulch, is expected to be completed within the next few days.  At that time, the majority of work will be limited to the pond area.  Upon completion of the pond retrofit, on approximately March 9th, removal of the soil/sludge dredged from the pond will commence, and then the access road will be removed.  Weather permitting, the majority of the work should be completed within four weeks, at which time all turf will be restored.

The TPC's plans for modifications to the irrigation pond fall under a directive by the Environmental Protection Agency and Montgomery County Department of the Environment that seeks to treat storm water runoff from roofs, roads, parking lots, etc. This program is intended to clean the water before it is discharged into streams and rivers, ultimately ending up in the Chesapeake. With the retrofit, the sediment buildup in the pond will be greatly reduced, thereby improving water quality and improving conditions for the aquatic life in the pond.

Residents may refer to the attached letter and map for more information about this project.  Additionally, the engineering firm contracted to perform the work, Soltesz has an email address and phone number on their website where you can comment and ask questions during the construction operations - click here.

We recognize that construction activity is disruptive, and to that end the Association is working with the project engineers and contractors to minimize disturbance during this construction phase and complete the project as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your understanding.
