Operation Care Package Goodies for the college kids

|
Love to our college students.
|
Our second gathering for
Operation Care Package will be
Monday, February 26th at 7:00 p.m. Operation Care Package is an opportunity for you to join with members of our Christ Church family to send a little love to your favorite college student! We each bring one thing to contribute to each of the boxes (we think there will be 15) for the students. Then we sign cards to go in all of the boxes.
Our theme this box is St. Patrick's Day! Some fun ideas that you could bring: St. Patrick's Day socks, coupons for Shamrock Shakes at McDonalds, canned soup, anything green, St. Patrick's Day room decorations, Lucky Charms cereal and anything else you could think of that would be good for the box! We will be packing in medium size flat rate boxes which measure
11" x 8 1/2" x 5 1/2".
Contact
Charlette Preslar to learn more about this event if you have not yet participated.

Stations of the Cross Wednesdays, beginning February 21
Meet in the church Wednesday evenings in Lent, at 5:45 p.m., to walk the Stations of the Cross with the Daughters of the King. The "stations" are a series of images depicting Jesus Christ on the day of his crucifixion. The faithful travel from image to image, in order, stopping at each "station" to recite selected prayers and reflections.

Labyrinth Walk Wednesday evenings 4:00-8:00 p.m.
Come walk the labyrinth in our courtyard, Wednesday evenings in Lent, and every evening in Holy Week.
Labyrinth walking is an ancient practice used by many different faiths for spiritual centering, contemplation and prayer. The proportions of the labyrinth are designed to bring rest, order, comfort, and harmony to the mind. In moving through the labyrinth, the worrying "monkey-mind" becomes occupied with the action of following the path, leaving the intuitive, deeper levels of awareness explored and engaged.

Shower St. Mark's with Love 2018 Lenten Outreach Project This Lenten season the Service Ministry has chosen the Showers of Blessings ministry at St. Mark's as the recipient of our giving.
We thank Heather Smith of St. Mark's for her informative talk last Sunday about their mobile shower ministry that serves their homeless visitors. There are many ways to help out but during this Lenten season our goal is to raise $4,000 to assist with the costs to maintain this ministry twice a month for the entire year. Donations will be accepted after services Sundays, at Lenten soup supper events, and in the parish office during the week. Sundays and weekdays we are able to facilitate credit card donations, but not on Wednesday evenings.
Nearly $900 was collected just this last Sunday! Pitch in if you can - what is a hot shower worth to you? Chances are you are blessed with one everyday; it is a gift we generally take for granted. Help make something as simple as a shower a possibility for our neighbors on the street.

Service Sunday Hands-on help For many years at Christ Church, we've done a Day of Service event in early December where we invite parishioners to stay after church one Sunday and take part in a number of opportunities to help others.
But our parish is so giving in nature that a single Day of Service just didn't seem to be enough. In 2018, we'll be hosting several Service Sundays throughout the year where folks can stay after church for a few minutes and join fellow parishioners on a project to help others.
Our
first Service Sunday will be held on
March 4 - come to Hinde Hall after either service. Stay after church that day and write an Easter greeting - or two, or three - to an inmate at a local correctional facility. To someone who feels little hope, getting a note of encouragement and love from a stranger can be life-changing. Someone cares - they are not forgotten.
All the supplies you need will be on hand and there will be mentors with tips on what to write. It's easy! We'll have a separate activity for kids, so bring them along! Send some love this Easter to someone who could really use it.
The next Service Ministry meeting is Tuesday, March 13 at 6:00 p.m. in Clare's Cottage (919 C Avenue) if you are interested in joining this exciting and vibrant group. All are welcome.

Everyone Deserves to Hear We now have T-Coil technology!
Christ Church just installed a T-Coil hearing loop in the church to assist those who are hearing impaired. The loop delivers sound from our sound system wirelessly into your hearing aid or assisted listening device if you don't have a hearing aid. It eliminates distracting background noise and provides crystal clear sound.
Your hearing aid must have Telecoil to pick up the signal from the hearing loop. If you don't know whether or not you have a T-Coil, contact your audiologist or hearing aid dispenser. For those without hearing aids, an assisted listening device will be available. Printed information to share with your audiologist is available in the narthex, at the Welcome Table and in the parish office.

Connect with Realm Create your unique log-in now! Christ Church has moved to a new kind of church record keeping solution called RealmĀ®. It primarily serves the administrative needs of the staff, but it also offers some exciting opportunities to support the way parishioners are involved at Christ Church.
Realm will make it easier for our parish family to connect with each other, keep up with what's going on, and grow as a connected faith community.
Everyone in the parish has a unique profile. Your profile contains everything you want people in our church to know about you. Your profile also enables you to join a small group, RSVP to events, track your giving, update your contact information, change family details, set notification preferences, or replace that outdated family photo.
You can register here and download the Connect app to your phone so you'll have all of your parish information at your fingertips 24/7.

Gun Violence in Parkland, Florida From The Rt. Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori

Bishops United Against Gun Violence
|
"Once again we are mourning the senseless deaths of children killed at school. The prophet Habbakuk echoes our grief:
'O Lord, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not listen? Or cry to you "Violence!" and you will not save? Why do you make me see wrong-doing and look at trouble? Destruction and violence are before me; strife and contention arise. So the law becomes slack and justice never prevails. The wicked surround the righteous - therefore judgment comes forth perverted.' (Habakkuk 1:2 NRSV)
May we make our own lament: "How long, O Lord, how long will your people continue to turn aside and avert their eyes from the evil in our midst?"
I commend to you the work of the Bishops United Against Gun Violence, for your consideration, prayer, and action in your own community and nationally:"
