Women's Indoor Tournament  IndoorT

On February 3-4, the Senior Women's Indoor Tournament took place at the Island Savings Centre in Duncan, BC.

In a field of five teams, the Island Wildcats Seniors claimed the championship in dramatic fashion. With the University of Victoria Vikes and the Wildcats locked in a 3-3 tie, Kathleen Leahy ripped one past the Vikes goaltender on a penalty shot in overtime to give her team the victory. The Valley Vixens took third place with a win over the Island Wildcats Juniors. We would like to thank all participating teams for a great weekend of indoor hockey, and a special thanks to Brenda Lockhart and the volunteer team for making it possible. We hope to see you all again next year!
Remembering the Legacy of Lorraine Logan

Field Hockey BC is deeply saddened by the passing of Lorraine Logan, a true pioneer in the Canadian field hockey community. As we offer our heartfelt condolences to Lorraine's friends and family, we also want to acknowledge and appreciate the contributions she made to our sport.

Lorraine was a member of the 1967 Canadian Women's National Field Hockey team that went on a seven week international tour in Europe. Their record of three wins and three losses in six tournament games was recorded as the Canadian women's best result to date in international field hockey competition.

After her time with the Canadian National Team, Lorraine went on to become an umpire for the International Women's Field Hockey Association at the World Championships. She was an extremely hard worker and a fierce social activist who will be deeply missed. To read more about Lorraine's field hockey history, click here

Women's National Team Undefeated in Chile

The Women's National Team has hit the ground running in 2018 after a commanding 2-0-3 series victory on their training tour in Santiago, Chile. The Canadians went undefeated in a five game test series, taking on the 15th world ranked Chileans on their home turf.

On top of the team's success, this tour held significant milestones for BC athletes Sara Goodman, Izzy Fraser and Kaitlyn Williams. This tour marked the first senior international matches for Goodman and Fraser, while Williams collected her 100th cap with the Senior National Team.

The team looks to continue their success in a four game test series against the United States, from February 21-26 in Chula Vista, California. Their primary focus on this tour is to prepare for the Commonwealth Games in Australia, April 4-15. Visit the Field Hockey Canada Website for a full  recap of the Chile training tour and their  2018 Commonwealth Games schedule.

Men's National Team Finishes Third in Five Nations Cup

The Men's National Team has recently returned from a two week training tour in Malaga, Spain. After a week of training, the team competed in the Five Nations Cup, where they placed third overall with a 2-2-0 record.

Team Canada's BC athletes had a strong showing in this event, with defender Gordon Johnston earning the tournament MVP title and Vancouver native Matt Sarmento leading the team in scoring. Surrey, BC native Sukhi Panesar also participated in his 100th international match for the Canadian Men's Team. The squad will spend the next month and a half focused on training hard for the Commonwealth Games.
