2018 LEGISLATIVE SESSION
HB 329 UNANIMOUSLY PASSED OUT OF COMMITTEE!
A special thanks to Representative Adam Koenig (R) - District 69 for sponsoring KMHI's bill on assistance animals and for testifying on the bill today, along with Rick Robinson, General Counsel & Senior Vice President, State & Local Affairs of the Manufactured Housing Institute. HB 329 passed unanimously out of Committee and was placed on the consent calendar.

Also, a big thank you also goes to Kristie Cundiff and Ted Lasley, Attorney at Law, representing KMHI members, Hickory Acres Mobile Home Park and Autumn Leaf Mobile Home Park. Also, KMHI appreciates JD Carey, Executive Director of the Louisville Apartment Association and to a great group from Pawsibilities Unleased, representing the service animal community for attending today and being prepared to testify. They brought Amy and Jewell with them (both great and hard-working service dogs). Betty Whittaker and Top Shelf Lobby worked for a week talking with the Committee members to prepare them for today's Committee meeting.

It had come to KMHI's attention that there was an overreach and abuse with tenants in manufactured home communities using an easy on-line method to obtain an "emotional support" certificate for animals so that they would be allowed in the communities.

Hopefully the legislation will be passed out of the House next week and will head to a Senate Committee quickly. We will then begin work on educating the Senate on this issue.

Thank you for the calls, emails and faxes to the Committee members. You all do a great job in supporting KMHI and its Legislative efforts. Thank you!
