Greetings CASP Scholars,
The final weeks of the Spring Quarter are right around the corner. Whether it was your first year or your last, there is a lot to do as the academic year comes to a close. We at CASP hope you can take the time amidst studying for finals to look back and reflect on your successes, as well as your challenges. Commencement, Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla will officially confer degrees by academic division upon graduates of the six undergraduate colleges, Graduate Division and professional schools.

The Value of Education, Ethics and Compassion for the Well-Being of Self and Others
In 1989,
His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama
was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his nonviolent struggle for the liberation of Tibet. He also became the first Nobel laureate to be recognized for his concern for global environmental problems. His Holiness has travelled to more than 62 countries spanning six continents, receiving over 84 awards, honorary doctorates, prizes and other recognition of his message of peace, nonviolence, interreligious understanding, universal responsibility and compassion. He has also authored more than 80 books.

Residence Hall MOVE OUT Information
|
MOVE OUT OF THE RESIDENCE HALLS/APARTMENTS:
You must be out by JUNE 17, 2017 by 6 P.M.
Due to security measures for the Dalai Lama's visit to campus, and road closures, there will be a high impact on campus accessibility between the hours of 7:00am - 2:00pm on Friday, June 16th and Saturday, June 17th.The campus will be impacted heavily on Friday and Saturday, with the most significant impact in the afternoon.
You are HIGHLY encouraged to leave prior to Friday If you are not able to move-out prior to Friday, you are encouraged you to pack as much as possible during the 7:00am - 2:00pm time period and move-out after 2:00pm in a quick and orderly manner.
Plan accordingly, as the deadline is 6:00 p.m. on Saturday - no extensions and late fees may be assessed after this time.
For residents moving out:
Please dispose of ELECTRONIC WASTE properly! It does NOT go into the trash! (This includes batteries, printer cartridges, and any electronics - working or not.) Anything with a cord CAN go into the DAV bins.
Summer Housing
The priority deadline to apply for Session One summer Housing is June 17. The summer Housing application along with information regarding eligibility, sessions, and rates can be found on the Summer Housing Program webpage. Please feel free to email any question regarding summer Housing to summerhousing@ucsd.edu
Summer Dining Reminders
Dining Dollars remaining after Spring Quarter will roll over to the summer, and may be used during Summer Session I and II. Canyon Vista, Pines, 64 Degrees, and Cafe Ventanas will transition to an All You Care To Eat format, with OceanView and Club Med remaining a la carte. Be sure to also check out Roger's and the Village Market for all your snacks, grocery, and specialty coffee needs.

Geisel Library will be extending it hours for Summer 2017 containing finals during both Session 1 and Session 2. For
Session 1,
July 3 to August 5 will have extended hours.

APIMEDA LGBTQ Family Luncheon

APIMEDA Programs and Services is happy to sponsor the APIMEDA LGBTQ Family Luncheon! This is a closed space for members of the UC San Diego community who identify as APIMEDA LGBTQ to come and talk about their common experiences. We encourage students, staff, and faculty to

First -year students will receive a participation email with the subject,
"Tell Us About Your First Year at UC San Diego" which will contain a personalized link to the YFCY survey. Please take a few minutes to fill out the survey as the information you provide helps UC San Diego improve services and programs.
By filling out the survey, you are entered in a drawing for some valuable prizes:

The Zone: Finals Therapy Fluffies

Therapy Fluffies Extravaganza
The popular pups are back! The Zone will be bringing nearly two dozen certified therapy dogs to campus to help you de-stress during finals! Studies show that animal therapy has many health benefits, including stress reduction. Grab your friends and come play, relax and de-stress with nearly two dozen fun-loving canines during finals week!

SUMMER SESSION COMMUTING SOLUTIONS |
Taking Summer Session classes at UC San Diego but not living on campus?
Here are some options for commuting to campus:
Transportation Services and student and campus leaders worked with MTS to offer students a discounted transit pass again this summer. Summer Pass is a
Compass Card that:
- Allows unlimited access to regional MTS and NCTD bus and rail routes, including the Trolley, Sprinter and new Rapid services
- Is available online only and costs $36 - not transferable or refundable
- Is valid June 1 through Sept. 30, 2017 to provide continuous transit access between spring and fall U-Pass
Eligibility
All UC San Diego undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in
Summer Session classes are eligible to purchase a Summer Pass.
Want to CARPOOL?
ZIMRIDE is UC San Diego's free, private ridesharing network.
Zimride Ridesharing Network
Faculty, staff, and students 18 and older with
Single Sign-On access can form carpools and vanpools or find one-time rides using
Zimride.
How to join
- Visit Zimride and read the terms of use and privacy policy, then click Log In if you agree.
- Log in via Single Sign-On. (If you already logged in, this step may be bypassed automatically.) Note: Students must click the Student Sign-On tab to enter their PID.
- Request or offer a ride by following the instructions to create a profile, browse postings, and post your own requests. You'll be able to contact individuals directly.
If you form a carpool, consider joining the Carpool Club for additional incentives.
- Register your carpool at the campus parking office to receive incentives; registration is free.
- At least 3 members must register as regular carpool riders to receive a reserved carpool space access sticker.
- Members pick up their complimentary 10 Day permit at the parking office. Bring:
- Valid UC San Diego ID
- Documentation of class schedule (undergraduates only)
