Sixteenth Street MAs flourish then move on to higher degrees
At Sixteenth Street we pride ourselves on creating an environment for employees to succeed in their role while fostering personal and professional growth. We highly support and encourage the continued education and movement of our fantastic employees that wish to pursue advanced degrees.
In the last five years, 18 MAs have gone on to complete advanced degrees.
  • 7 have become RNs
  • 1 has become an NP
  • 1 has transitioned to a role in HR
  • 10 are currently enrolled in a nursing program
Congratulations to all of these special individuals - we are so proud of what you have and are achieving!
Sixteenth Street - Layton Clinic to open in April  

Sixteenth Street's newest clinic is set to open April 2018. The Layton Clinic is located at 4570  S. 27th Street and will be offering the following services:
  • Child and Adolescent Day Treatment
  • Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA)
  • Behavioral Health
  • Medical
We are excited to offer these much-needed services to our community! Thank you to the Aurora Better Together Fund for the $1 million in-kind donation of the clinic building to make this new venture possible.
Sixteenth Street experts sit on panels for the Milwaukee Country Behavioral
Health Division and Milwaukee Business Journal
Dr. J ulie Schuller, President and CEO of Sixteenth Street, joined other health care CEO's for the Milwau kee Business J ournal 's Health Care CEO Roundtable They discussed a variety of topics from mergers, to Medicaid requirements, to the political situation regarding healthcare and more.

In addition, Sixteenth Street's Maria Perez, PhD, VP of Behavioral Health, sat on a panel that followed the Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Division's screening of the feature documentary, Written Off , during National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week. The panel explored the topics of behavior health  resources, AODA/addiction, stigma, race and more.
Donor Spotlight: The Charles E. Kubly Foundation
After their son, Charlie, took his life at the age of 28, Billie and Mike Kubly dedicated their lives to reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness and working to remove barriers facing patients and families struggling with these diseases. Shortly after his death, they created the Charles E. Kubly Foundation which seeks to better the lives of those affected by depression through increasing public awareness of the disease, eliminating the stigma associated with it, supporting suicide prevention programs and promoting improved access to quality mental health resources within communities.

The ongoing generosity of the Charles E. Kubly Foundation is making a dramatic impact in the lives of the community Sixteenth Street serves, especially our low income and uninsured patients. Their most recent $30,000 grant will directly support the expansion of our behavioral health services via our soon-to-open Layton Clinic which, in addition to offering integrated medical and behavioral health care, will provide AODA and substance abuse counseling and treatment and will house Southeast Wisconsin's only bilingual day treatment program for children and adolescents.

We are grateful to the Charles E. Kubly Foundation for their generous support. Thank you for believing in our work and, most importantly, in the people we serve.

I am a single dad with three sons and one daughter. I was going through a tough time with my family, and my kids' pediatrician at the clinic, Dr. Enriquez, recommended I see Ana, the social worker. I needed help with things that were very difficult for me, like getting social security for my children that have special needs, filling out papers for food stamps and other legal issues like divorce and custody. I don't know a lot of English and I don't have a very high level of education. Filling out paperwork in English and understanding the system was nearly impossible for me. Ana was wonderful. She helped me with everything. She helped with the social security, food stamps and connecting me with....

I'm sure you've all heard a variety of different things from the media about electronics and children. It's difficult to sort out. Electronics are part of our lives and we cannot avoid them. In fact, most people don't want to avoid them and look forward to using the latest and greatest technology. As a behavioral health provider, my concern is for children and how electronics affect socialization and emotional health.

While counseling, it's not rare for me to hear children complain that their parents have no time to play with them or do other things because the parents are always on their phones.
