Program Highlights
TechGarage Wins eMerge Americas Hackathon
The TechGarage program at FAU Tech Runway took first place last week in the 2017 eMerge Americas Hackathon, a 24-hour computer programming competition, in Miami.

The team competed against 34 other teams, all representing technology companies from South Florida. The TechGarage team, which includes Winston Cheung from Atlantic High School; Carson Lyttle from Boca Raton High School; Devin Willis from FAU High School and Jacob Zipper from Pine Crest School, was the only student team to participate in the event.  Read more .
Venture Company Highlights
Hubspring Health Selected as Startup Finalist
Hubspring Health, a Venture Class 5 $25,000 winner, was selected as one of six early stage startup finalists at the 2017 eMerge Americas conference. The company beat out more than 70 start-ups, to land a spot in the finals.

In addition, The New Tropic, a journalism and events brand that serves Miami's "curious locals", named Hubspring Health as one of "the five most promising startups of eMerge Americas 2017."

Hubspring Health is a mobile cloud-based platform that provides medical groups with the tools to access, organize, manage, and distribute daily resources and communications.

Mind & Melody Selected as Finalist
Mind & Melody, a Venture Class 4 company, is a finalist for the 2017 Florida Blue Healthcare Innovation Pitch Competition. The non-profit was awarded $1,000, along with a summer of professional mentoring. They will compete in October for the opportunity to win an additional $10,000.

The start-up's program has expanded to more than 20 healthcare facilities across Florida, including Miami, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, Jupiter, Juno Beach, Tallahassee, Gainesville, and most recently, Orlando at the University of Central Florida.
