Three New Knowledge Builders Now Available

Do you want to know about:
  • health conditions commonly experienced by individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness?
  • questions (and helpful responses) that are often raised concerning the use of medication?
  • important considerations when working with people with substance use and co-morbid psychiatric conditions?
If so, our three new Knowledge Builders will be helpful to you.
  • Health Conditions in Behavioral Care:  outlines health conditions common in behavioral health and provides an overview of etiologies, diagnoses and treatments as well as cultural considerations that behavioral health and primary care providers must recognize.  The focus is on hypertension, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia.
  • Responding to Patients' Questions and Concerns about Medication:  focuses on patients' questions and concerns about their use of medication and ways to respond to these questions and concerns. Non-prescriber clinicians will learn about their important role as facilitators for the patient and his or her prescriber for a more integrated approach to treatment.
  • Approach to Individuals with Substance Use and Co-Morbid Psychiatric Conditions:  focuses on individuals with substance use and co-morbid psychiatric conditions.  It uses a case study format to highlight things to consider including assessment, symptoms, and treatment.
CPI's Knowledge Builder modules are videos that provide basic information about specific topic areas. They are easy to follow and run from 10-30 minutes. If you've seen a "TED Talk", you are familiar with the structure. Many even include brief interviews and other segments that help the topic to come alive.

There are currently over 35 Knowledge Builders available to you in CPI's learning management system, with more under development. Topics cover a wide range of interests including clinical, programmatic, systems-oriented and even administrative.
