CVMA Convention Receives RACE Approval!

The 2018 CVMA convention program was reviewed and approved by the AAVSB RACE program to offer a total of 113 CE credits (27 max) available to any one DVM and 69 CE credits (27 max) available to any one RVT.

CVMA National Issues Forum

The CVMA National Issues Forum will explore issues and challenges pertaining to the Therapeutic Use of Cannabinoids in Veterinary Medicine . Expert speakers include:
  • Dr. Sarah Silcox, President and Director of the Canadian Association of Veterinary Cannabinoid Medicine (CAVCM)
  • Dr. Louis-Philippe de Lorimier, a veterinary medical oncologist and Veterinary Information Network (VIN) consultant, and
  • Dr. Sharon Gwaltney-Brant, a veterinary toxicologist and VIN consultant

Presentations will be followed by an interactive session including live polling and open discussions with the audience. The Forum takes place on Thursday, July 5.
CVMA Summit

The CVMA Summit entitled “ Changing Dynamics of Private Practice ” will take place on the morning of Thursday, July 5 , featuring three thought-provoking speakers:
  • Dr. Gudrun Ravetz – Corporate Veterinary Practice – What Does it Mean for the Profession?
  • Dr. Cindy Adams – Experiences in Veterinary Communication Education for Practice Success, and
  • Dr. Marie Holowaychuk – How to Form Habits that Foster Resilience in Veterinary Medicine.

“Think Outside the Box”

The CVMA Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) is an interactive leadership session geared to new grads, and experienced professionals alike, to “think outside the box” for personal and professional growth.

The program provides an opportunity to examine personal and professional accomplishments and how to work more effectively with colleagues.

Dr. Rick DeBowes , Professor of Surgery and Director of the Professional Life Skills Program at Washington State University, will facilitate the session.

This unique leadership experience is open to all members of the CVMA and the Registered Veterinary Technologists and Technicians of Canada (RVTTC). Any CVMA or RVTTC member can register for a low fee of $200 . This session is held on Thursday, July 5 and Friday, July 6 .
