News from the Shelter
We wish to extend a warm welcome to Leanne Emm, our new Interim Executive Director.
The board has appointed Leanne to this post as we seek to fill the position on a permanent basis. Leanne recently retired from the Colorado Department of Education where she was the Deputy Commissioner of School Finance and Operations.  Leanne has been in the government and non-profit sectors for her entire career which spans almost 30 years.  She holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Metropolitan State University and a Masters in Public Administration from CU-Denver.  Leanne has adopted four cats from the Cat Care Society over the years, and remembers the old house where she adopted her first shelter cat, Inky. She currently has two CCS cats - Boo and Silky - they are both black cats.  Leanne is proud to be a fourth generation native Coloradan!  She is married to her husband Dave and they have one daughter named Charlotte who lives in Durango and graduated from Fort Lewis College.
She loves to hike, camp, whitewater raft, and travel - if you ever need a suggestion for where to go in Colorado, just ask her! She has been a long-time supporter of the shelter, and looks forward to working with staff, the board, and the cats during this transition.

We extend best wishes to our former Executive Director, Heather Allen, as she moves on to other endeavors.  She brought the Cat Care Society to a bold new level during her tenure.  Thank you, Heather.

A big thanks to a group of school children from Compass Montessori school.  They came in last week and did a huge amount of extra cleaning and socializing with the kitties.  The cats loved them!

Our Valentine Card Drive was a huge success and raised $1540 to benefit our cats.  All our shelter cats were sponsored with a picture themed valentine and they are proudly displayed in the hallway.  We appreciate all of our supporters so much!

Congratulations to Jillie, crowned Queen of the Valentine Card Drive!

Opt to Adopt Tommy
Hi there, my name is Tommy!  I'm a big, handsome dude who would love to come home with you.  I used to have a family that loved me, but recently my favorite  human started to get sick when she spent time with me.  They said it was allergies, whatever those are.  I really loved my family, and I was so sad when they had to leave me.  But I know that somewhere, there is a perfect home waiting for me with a human that will love me and play with me.

I really don't like other cats much, so I would prefer to have a home with no other cats.  After all, I'm more than enough cat to fill anyone's heart!
