DON BERNDT'S RESEARCH EXAMINES BOND MARKET DYNAMICS
Research by ISDS Professor Don Berndt, Dave Boogers and others is helping federal regulators determine the dynamics of a market crash and recovery. LIMAYEM: B-SCHOOLS SHOULD LOOK TO OFFER CYBER HYGIENE 
Muma College of Business Dean Moez Limayem weighs in on how to curb the growing threat of black-hat hacking. In his column, published in the AACSB's BizEd magazine, the dean discusses recent cyber attacks and suggests mandatory cyber hygiene education across all university disciplines, creating a defense against hackers intent on computer havoc. ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: DANIEL LABOSSIERE, FROM HAITI TO SUCCESS  
After growing up in Haiti during the repressive François "Papa Doc" Duvalier era, Daniel Labossiere made it to the University of South Florida and then into a successful career as an entrepreneur. He now adds this to his resume: author of a memoir on the importance of empowering the next generation. He says his time at USF  was transformative. Learn more.
HUNDREDS ATTEND ACCOUNTING CIRCLE ANNUAL CONFERENCE  
Accountants and managers who made it to the two-day Accounting Circle Conference in May discovered that there really isn't all that much difference between them and Navy SEALs, said the keynote speaker, retired U.S. Navy Capt. ISDS OFFERS WAYS TO OFFSET COSTS OF TECHNICAL INSTRUCTION
Two programs in the ISDS department aim to help USF-enrolled and non-enrolled students pay their way toward getting better jobs with higher salaries. ISDS Chair Manish Agrawal says the certificate program is funded through scholarship donations and pays the costs of the exams. The other, offered to non-USF students enrolled in boot camps, is federally funded. DAN BRADLEY'S "WATCHDOG" RESEARCH TOPIC OF WSJ REPORT
Dan Bradley's research into who is best suited to watchdog corporate profits was the subject of a Wall Street Journal story on June 5. The report cites research Bradley conducted with three colleagues from other universities. The theme was whether industry insiders are better suited at calling out corporate CEOs or if the analysts would be reluctant because of past and maybe future connections with the high rollers in finance and investments. BREAKFAST WITH A CIO: BUSINESS TECH IS OPEN AND GROWING  
The ISDS department's annual fundraiser featured Anil Cheriyan, CIO of SunTrust Banks, earlier this month. He said it's a great time to be in the field of business IT, as "Digital ecosystems are being formed as we speak." He and others agreed that the need for fresh ideas and new blood can only benefit USF information technology graduates.  To read what they said, click here.
DIGITAL MARKETING CERTIFICATE PROGRAM LAUNCHED IN JUNE
About two dozen business professionals took four days off in June to attend the first Digital Marketing Certificate program at the Muma College of Business. SBDC CONSULTANT BILL MCKOWN: LEAVE THE SCOREBOARD ON 
Bill McKown, a consultant with the Small Business Development Center at the University of South Florida, says business owners often don't watch how the bottom line is moving until the end of the year. He says that's like baseball managers turning off the scoreboard for the entire game, ignoring runs scored, hits made and errors committed. The day before tax forms are to be filed is not the time to find out how much your business made or lost over the past year, he says.   Learn more.  
FACULTY/STAFF NOTES 
  • Sharon Hanna-West, an instructor who teaches ethics and sustainability, received the first-ever Muma College of Business Outstanding Community Engagement and Service Award in recognition of her involvement in matters inside and outside the classroom over the past year.
  • Sarah Moyer, staff assistant in the Lynn Pippenger School of Accountancy, along with Melony Herron, office assistant in the Muma College of Business Dean's Office, received the Quiet Quality Award given by the USF Staff Senate. The award recognizes employees who are conscientious, professional and display positive attitudes.
  • Kristene Manning, office manager with the Small Business Development Center at USF, earned a master's degree in biblical studies from the Evangelical College and Seminary in Plant City.
  • Selma Canas, international trade specialist with the Small Business Development Center at USF, was named Employee of the Year. She has worked at the center for seven years, three at the University of North Florida and four at USF.

  • Sarah Naumowich ('06 MBA) has been named president of Morton Plant North Bay Hospital by BayCare Health System. Naumowich served as the interim president since January and was previously the director of operations.
  • Claudia E. Reingruber ('80 Accounting) has merged her firm, Reingruber & Company, P.A. of St. Petersburg, with Saltmarsh, Cleaveland & Gund of Nashville, Tennessee. Founded in 1991, Reingruber & Co. specialized in health-care accounting and consulting. She and her team have joined Saltmarsh's Tampa office.
  • Joseph Dimisa ('92 MBA) has joined Korn Ferry as a senior client partner. Prior to the appointment, Dimisa worked at Sibson Consulting, most recently as a senior vice president and sales force effectiveness practice leader. He will work out of Korn Ferry's Atlanta office.
  • Anson Angail ('14 Accounting) recently was appointed acquisitions analyst at Landeavor, a real-estate development company based in Tampa. Angail was a 25-Under-25 honoree in the Muma College of Business during the 2011-12 academic year.
  • Jacob Huegel ('17 MS, MBA Sport & Entertainment Management) has been hired by the PGA Tour as a marketing research associate.
  • Harold Osban ('06, MBA) has joined Keller Williams Realty Select as a real estate agent. Osban is a member of Landlords Association of Manatee, the Real Estate Connection and Realtor Association of Sarasota and Manatee.
