Former Harris County Criminal Judge Belinda Hill will present " A Dialogue with Former District Judge and Prosecutor Belinda Hill" for 1.5 hours MCLE credit, no ethics from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. at the Marathon Oil Tower.
This program will feature a one-on-one dialogue with former Harris County Criminal District Judge and Harris County assistant district attorney, Belinda Hill. Among other topics of discussion, Judge Hill will reflect on her lengthy and varied career in public service, including her thirteen years as a prosecutor; practical tips and ethical insights that she has accumulated in her many years on the bench; and her uniquely personal perspective as one of the first African-American women to serve on the Harris County Criminal District Courts, on the role and importance of diversity, and inclusion in the legal profession.
Attendance is free for HBA members and no pre-registration is required.

Professor Josh Blackman ( South Texas College of Law Houston ), John Nechman ( Katine & Nechman, LLP ), and Trey Yates III ( Trey Yates Law ) will present " Pidgeon v. Turner : The Status of Same-Sex Marriage in the Lone Star State" for 1.5 hours MCLE credit, no ethics from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the  Heritage Plaza  First Floor Conference Room.
In  Pidgeon v. Turner , the Texas Supreme Court challenged the constitutionality of the City of Houston’s spousal benefits policies for same-sex couples. This seminar will provide a brief history of same-sex marriage in the U.S., what led to  Pidgeon , and where it may lead. It will also analyze the retroactive effects of  Obergefell v. Hodges .

Lunch 'n' Learn: Pay Equity and #MeToo
The HBA will host a free lunch-and-learn program for members on Wednesday, March 7 from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Heritage Plaza  First Floor Conference Room. Linda Schoonmaker of Seyfarth Shaw LLP will discuss “ Pay Equity and #MeToo” for 1 hour MCLE credit, including 1 hour ethics credit. Bring your own lunch.
