Porch Knitting Time!

This year I am hoping for lots of porch knitting.  There are so many projects in my queue that I am itching to start, and we have so many new yarns to try!  Like this great new Organic Cotton from the Great Adirondack Yarn Company - an amazingly soft 100% cotton yarn, hand-dyed in a 315 yard DK weight hank for the unbelievable price of $12.00 per skein!

Classes
Fingering Brioche Bandana Cowl with Lavanya
Sunday, June 25th,
1PM - 4PM

  Join Lavanya for an afternoon of knitting and learn the lovely and versatile 2 color brioche stitch. During the 3 hour class you will be taught the basics of the brioche knit and purl stitch, how to read a brioche pattern, how to count rows, how to count stitches, and measuring gauge, while she guides you through your choice of an included cowl pattern. This is a beginner friendly class but advancing students are welcome!  Supplies:  2 contrasting skeins of fingering weight yarn - 150 yards each for the small size (shown in the picture) or 220 yards each for the large size - and a US 3 - 16" circular needle, plus a stitch marker.  Space is limited, call in advance to sign up.
Beginner Knitting for Teens with Ann
(Ages 12-18)

Wednesdays, June 28th, July 5th, July 12th, July 19th, July 26th - 12:00PM - 2:00PM  Cost $15.00 for each session

Learn something new this summer - come to Conversational Threads and learn to knit!  We'll be making a super-cool cowl while learning to cast-on stitches, knit in the round, and bind off.  If your skills permit, we will teach you more skills as needed.

Ann has worked extensively with teenagers and has run several groups encouraging kids to knit and carry on this age-old tradition and art form. 
Supplies: worsted weight yarn and US size 7, 8, or 9 knitting needles, or these can be purchased at the shop 15 minutes prior to the start of class.  Register by calling the shop.  Class is limited to 6 students per session.
