As Rinpoche explains, he has returned to Nepal to be with his family after the death of his grandfather. He will participate in the traditional 49 days of continuous practice, and therefore is unable to be with us in person for the retreats in Germany. However, Rinpoche does plan to connect with us and teach via video conference during each retreat, and we are making those arrangements now.
Mingyur Rinpoche has asked his senior lama, Khenpo Kunga, to lead these retreats. As many of you know, Khenpo-la has been teaching with Rinpoche during his teaching tour this year. He is a marvelous teacher, and has Rinpoche's utmost confidence and support.
Khenpo became a monk at a young age, and a
t fifteen entered into a three-year meditation retreat. Following this period of intense practice, he studied for 11 years at the renowned Dzongsar monastic college near Dharamsala in Northwest India, receiving his Khenpo degree (roughly equivalent to a PhD)
.
Khenpo's characteristic warmth and humor, along with his ability to present the teachings in a clear and accessible way, have endeared him to students around the world.
Thank you for your support and understanding. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at
