"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new right spirit in me." Psalm 51:10
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents,

We are halfway through Quarter 3, so now is a great time to review your student’s grades to see where he or she may be struggling. There is still time to make improvements, so if you have any questions about how to best help your student, please do not hesitate to contact your student’s teachers.

In less than two weeks, students in Grades 3-8 will be taking the first round of ISTEP testing. Testing will begin on Monday, February 26th and continue through March 9th. Next Friday, February 23rd, we will be kicking off our testing with a pep rally session in the gym. Since this is the first time our current third graders will be taking this test, we try to make this pep rally a little more special for them by recognizing each student and giving each of them some words of advice on how to best tackle the exam. With a little help from those students who have taken this exam in the past, we remind students to do their best and to come to school well-rested.

We ask that during these weeks of ISTEP that families not schedule doctor’s appointments or take their students out early during those two weeks. We have a small window to complete this testing, so it is important that students are on time to school and present during these sessions. Additionally, students in Grade 3 will be taking IREAD the week of March 12-16th. In the state of Indiana, students are required to pass this exam in order to move on to fourth grade. Consider talking to your student about these exams and see if there are any questions they still have. While we want students to take these exams seriously, we also want them to realize that these exams are simply a snapshot of what they have learned this year.

Finally, remember that our next PTA meeting will be held this Sunday, February 18 th , at 7:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

Have a safe weekend!

School Delays and Cancellations

As a reminder to all of our families, please know that when we delay school or choose to cancel, you should look for “St. Michael-St. Gabriel” and not “St. Michael” on the television screen. There has been some confusion the last few weeks when St. Michael-Greenfield has delayed or canceled school. Note: We put our school delays and closings on local channels 4, 8, 13, and 59.
