Last Wednesday, H-F's Fine Arts Department hosted its
Winter Jazz Concert in the Mall Auditorium. The concert featured performances by two Jazz ensembles, a full Jazz band, and three separate Jazz combos - all featuring current H-F Band students. The concert was streamed live via H-F's Facebook page; view segments of the concert via

Careers in STEAM Night was Tuesday, where students and parents heard more about professions in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics from professionals in the community and had a chance to learn about H-F's STEAM-based clubs, including
Visual Arts Club,
ZooBots Club &
Robotics Club. Our panel of professionals included (left to right):

H-F student-artists earn 3 out of 5 awards at SWSC Art Festival
Congratulations to H-F's student-artists who competed against 12 other high schools last Friday during the SWSC Art Festival, held at Governors State University, and walked away with three of five presented awards: Libby Bransky, Lauryn Castagna, Caroline Koranda, Robert Lee, Jeremy Libretti-River, Alix Lowry, Vlad Martinez, Audrey McKillip, Ruth McManus, Nathan Oh & Andrea Zambrano. Lauryn won Best Overall 2D for her quilled paper self-portrait; Alix won the Student Choice 3D award for her lighted box sculpture; and Vlad's design was chosen for the Cover Design. Ruth's portrait was named Best of School for H-F. Great job!

H-F Speech Regional Results
Kudos to the H-F Speech Team for finishing in 3rd Place overall at the IHSA Regional event held at Marian Catholic last Saturday! All of our students have now advanced to IHSA Sectionals, set for this Saturday at Thornton H.S.

Boys Swimming & Diving headed to IHSA Sectionals

H-F Boys Swimming & Diving team, which has qualified for IHSA Sectionals, set for Feb. 17 at L-Way East H.S.! Freshman
Jack Williams (pictured) captured the pool record and was named SWSC Champion in Diving. Freshman
Colby Lomaglio was SWSC Champion in two contests: 200 Individual Medley & 100 Breaststroke. Go, Vikings!

Monday night, and four H-F Wrestlers are advancing to the individual IHSA Sectionals at Alton on Friday: Briscoe Watson, Caleb Snoddy, Tommy Dantzler & Jeffrey Griffin, who was the IHSA Regional Champion at his weight!

H-F History Bowl: 5th Place

Congratulations to the H-F History Bowl team for finishing tied for 5th Place in the Illinois State Championships
held Saturday at Loyola Academy H.S.
The team consisted of seniors Declan Cawley & Teddy Komorowski, junior Myles Walker, sophomore Eric Piros & freshman Sam Ayodiran.

, Eric Piros competed in the Illinois JV State Championship for History Bee, and individually qualified for Nationals in April.

H-F Scholastic Bowl: Blue Division Champions
|
Congratulations to the Varsity Scholastic Bowl team for its SWSC regular-season Blue Division Conference Championship. The team finished the regular season 11-1 after defeating Lockport and Stagg last
Wednesday
, despite losing to Sandburg later in the meet.
Five H-F players earned All-Conference honors for their performance in the regular season, most of any team in the SWSC! They are: seniors Declan Cawley, Teddy Komorowski & Luca Strohmeier, and juniors Jimmy Humphrey & Myles Walker.
The team competes next at the SWSC regular-season tournament on

Winter Olympics start Friday!
Good luck to H-F alumna
Seun Adigun, '05, in her second appearance on the Olympic stage next weekend! Seun will be driving the bobsled for Nigeria, representing that country's first-ever entry into the Winter Olympics and the first-ever women's bobsled team from the continent of Africa! Previously, she ran track for Nigeria in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. This past December, Seun earned her doctorate in chiropractic medicine.
