St. Michael's Academy
:
The school year is winding down and we have one more full week left. Hard to believe another year is coming to a close.
We are looking forward to our 8th grade graduation next week on Tuesday evening at St. Michael's Cathedral. It is always a pleasure to watch these students accept their diplomas and think back to their younger days here at St. Michael's Academy. They have grown into fine young men and women and I know they will do well in the years to come.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, we will have our Kindergarten closing ceremonies on Friday next week. Even with just a year of kindergarten under their belts, you can see the growth and maturity that has occured over this past year.
Meanwhile, the other students are looking forward to their field days and the end of the school year! The schedule for field days according to grade level can be found below. Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered.
Enjoy a nice weekend!
Peace,
Ann E. Dougal
Principal

The Value of Moby Max
I'm sure you have heard your child talk about Moby Max this year.
Different classes have different assignments. I'll admit I am still a little afraid of the computer, and Moby Max was a bit scary at first. Under the guidance of the true third grade computer expert, Mrs. Morrill, we decided to assign Multiplication Practice each evening. I couldn't believe the improvement that students made who were faithful to practicing! It was amazing.
The success the students discovered on Moby Max followed them into math class. I know SMA parents are excited for their students to improve their math and reading skills.
This summer, Moby Max will give our students the opportunity to avoid the achievement gap. Let's prevent that " summer slide!"

The 8th grade students finally made their way to High Meadows for their class trip. Having already been postponed from last week due to weather, we aren't sure if this week was much better! It certainly didn't put a damper on the fun though!

Grade 4 Chorus Draws A Standing Ovation
If you run into a 4th grade student and their voice is a little hoarse, it might be because of the amazing choral performance they performed, not once, but twice on Thursday. Under the direction of Ms. Vanessa Ford from The Community Music School, the students performed for an hour in the morning for their grandparents and fellow students and then again in the evening for their parents. They dazzled their audiences and received a standing ovation!
And after their morning performance, they enjoyed some refreshments with their grandparents!

Ms. Synan's Students Learn About Ocean Animals!
Today Grayson's mom visited Ms. Synan's Pre-K 4 B students to discuss the theme of ocean animals. She read the students the storybook "The Pout Pout Fish" by Deborah Diesen. Next, the students used watercolors to paint and decorate assorted fish. Lastly, everyone enjoyed a delicious ice cream treat!
Thank you Grayson's mom!!!!
