I've Had a Heart Attack: Can I Restart an Exercise Regimen?
The Short Answer from a cardiologist
From Cleveland Clinic - health.clevelandclinic.org
If you've done cardiac rehab, then you likely already have learned an exercise regimen. It's nice when you've had that benefit, because you can slowly start going back to the regimen that you had before.
If you don't have the benefit of a guided regimen in the past, then you can start by walking 10 or 15 minutes a day and do that every day for the first week. Increase that to 20 in the next week, then 25 the next week.
Once you hit 30 minutes of walking a day you can start doing a faster walking pace, and then eventually you can start jogging. Be sure to consult your physician, of course. You always want to talk to your doctor and make sure that it's safe for you to exercise.

The Best of Spring and Summer Produce
Written by Beth Funari Sims, Certified Personal Trainer Prescription Fitness

I am always grateful when this time of year rolls around, and fruit and vegetable options are plentiful. Sure most grocers carry strawberries in the winter, and you can pretend they taste pretty good ... but let's be real it's nothing like the fresh summer version.
Fruits and vegetables naturally taste better when they are at their peak.
The better healthy food like fruits, and vegetables taste the more likely we are to choose them over less nutritious options.
Enjoy fruit as is or freeze for smoothies (great for when you're craving something icy and cold). Well washed veggies are so good raw with hummus. You can also grill em up for the ideal BBQ side, or use in a summer salad. So many healthful possibilities!
Fresh tasting produce just can't be beat during the warmer months. By knowing what's in season you're taking smart steps towards good health.
So what's in season in the Ohio region?
Fruit
Strawberries, blackberries and raspberries start to come on in early June.
Blueberries, cantaloupe, peaches, and cherries are typically at their best in July or August.
Watermelon and grapes are delicious mid July to mid September.
Tomatoes are most tasty July to frost.
Vegetables
Asparagus is ready come May or June. (The perfect grilling vegetable).
Peas, spinach and mustard greens usually enjoy a season from June to August.
Bell peppers are best July through early September.
Corn (the quintessential summer choice) and green beans are typically best July through late September or early October.
Choose squash and zucchini from June to early October.
And don't forget about herbs like dill and basil which are best June through late August.
Enjoy!
