Frances S. Collins, MD, PhD, will continue in his role as Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The 16th NIH director was sworn in on Aug. 17, 2009. Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) President and CEO Darrell G. Kirch commented the AAMC and nation's medical schools and teaching hospitals will benefit from Collins' expertise "during this critical time for medical research."
