B.A., M.P.T.
Joanna Miller graduated from Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia with a Master's degree in physiotherapy in 2005. Since completing her degree, Joanna has taken various courses to continually update her skills. Her practice has been influenced by myofasical release, lymph drainage, and craniosacral therapy courses taken through the The Connecticut School of Integrative Manual Therapy, acupressure courses taken through Soul Lightening International in California, and Visceral and Neural Manipulation courses through The Barral Institute. Most recently, she has been studying Evolutionary Process work with Denine Savage, a physical therapist in Connecticut, which is the main form of manual therapy that Joanna is currently using in her practice.
Joanna has provided physiotherapy in the occupational health departments of several hospitals and various office settings. This type of work involved treating repetitive strain injuries that occur in the work place and addressing them through a combination of personalized rehabilitation sessions and ergonomic recommendations.
Joanna's treatments encompass the full body, mind and spirit, with a special focus on creating personalized prescriptions for healing. Her multidisciplinary approach brings awareness to your body and includes traditional physiotherapy, hands-on energy work, and yoga. As a physiotherapist, Joanna facilitates the body's amazing ability to heal by listening and responding to its changing needs to positively resolve injuries and chronic pain issues.
Joanna has an interest in yoga and Ayurveda and has completed a 500-hour yoga teacher training course. She is continuing to update her knowledge by studying Ayurveda online and during annual trips to India with Dr. Amruta Athale, an Ayurvedic doctor in India, and attending yoga classes and workshops locally.
Joanna is always looking for new things to learn and ways to increase her knowledge and expand her practice. She enjoys bringing these new resources directly to her patients and credits much of her learning to her experiences working with clients from all walks of life over the past ten years. Her holistic approach and comprehensive approach has enhanced the lives of many patients who had expected to live with injuries and/or chronic pain.
Joanna offers 90 minute physiotherapy initial consultations and 60 minute follow up sessions. 90 minute combined yoga and manual therapy sessions are also available.
