Much of the focus in Washington this week was on two important hearings: Director of National Intelligence Coats and National Security Agency Director Rogers testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Wednesday, while former Director of the FBI Comey testified before the same Committee on Thursday. Both hearings involved issues related to the investigations into possible links between the Trump campaign and Russia in the 2016 election.
Although it was largely overshadowed by the Intelligence Committee hearings, Senate Republicans announced that they are moving forward with their version of the healthcare bill. They would like to have a vote by the end of July at the latest.
Flood insurance reauthorization is getting underway in the House Financial Services Committee. Lawmakers must act by the end of September to prevent the program from expiring.
