Memorial Day Weekend 2017
Memorial Weekend Greetings
For many of us, Memorial Day Weekend is the kick-off to summer. School is almost finished, we scramble to schedule last-minute family getaways, the weather turns warm, and we head to the pool or the beach. This weekend over 80 folks will join us at Camp Stevens to celebrate summer with hikes, crafts, a cook-out, garden discovery, and poolside chats; but Memorial Day is so much more that this.

Please join me this weekend in person or in spirit to take time to remember those who've given their lives for the sake of our country. Whether you are republican, democrat, or independent, a pacifist or something other, we can likely agree that the dedication and commitment of those in the military and their sacrifice and that of their families is inspiring and worthy of remembrance. If you or someone in your family has served our country: thank you.

Always with gratitude,

From the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer:

Almighty God, we commend to your gracious care and keeping all the men and women of our armed forces at home and abroad. Defend them day by day with your heavenly grace; strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Let's Build Bergstrom: Update
In the last few days we've seen two major changes to the Bergstrom Lodge site: Foundation & Framing! The foundation was poured for the two buildings that will house lodge rooms plus framing and plywood walls. (The third building with the meeting and conference rooms is waiting on the retaining wall in the hillside.)
We're well on our way to our fundraising goal and every gift makes a difference. Just $180,000 in gifts and pledges needed to make our $1.2M goal!
Construction is underway
These markings indicate where the walls, windows, and doors will end up - and the bolts hold the building down!

About Bergstrom Lodge
These two buildings will hold eight lodge rooms on two floors each. Each room will have either two twin beds or a double bed (no bunks!), a pull-out couch, and a private bathroom.

The Bergstrom Lodge will provide comfortable space for more and different folks to encounter Camp Stevens' mission of transformation.

The lodge honors Peter and Vicki Bergstrom, whose leadership and vision for 40 years made Camp Stevens what it is today.
