Let's all congratulate Natalie on this wonderful honor!
MADDEN MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP

Saint Basil Academy is most grateful to the family of Dr. James Madden, who had passed away in November 2013 after 11 years as our Band Director. Dr. Madden started the band program as we know it, and developed it into a vibrant and viable part of our music program.  The family of Dr. Madden established the Dr. James A. Madden Memorial Music Scholarship, which helped our students and students of Dr. Madden's other schools for four years.  We also express deep gratitude to the family of Dr. Madden for their generous donation of remaining funds to Saint Basil Academy, as the foundation comes to a close.  Please visit the link to read the letter from the Dr. James A. Madden Music Fund.

Transcripts
All 2017 graduate final transcripts will be sent out to attending colleges and universities as soon as they are finalized. There is no need to request them on Naviance.

Brag Sheets
All rising seniors and their parents will have a summer assignment this year. Please check out the summer assignment listing on the SBA site. Each rising senior and her parent is asked to complete a brag sheet (the links are available on the summer assignment page of the website)  When completed, please return to the student's counselor. This information will be used in the letter of recommendations written by their counselors. If you have already done so, we thank you!

CONCERT CHOIR
Open to all students

Did you know that "anyone who possesses a voice with which to speak can learn to sing?"  Not everyone believes that but it's true, why? because: "the vocal mechanism is the same for both."  "Singing is NOT a God-given talent to a chosen few."
Talk to your daughters about becoming a member of the Concert Choir. There  are no auditions.  Only that they love to sing and are  willing to do their part to produce a quality performance.   They can take it for credit or non-credit, twice a week at the beginning of lunch.  They will have many opportunities to perform, at the Christmas and Spring concerts to name a few.  It's a wonderful opportunity to get to know and work with girls from other grade levels.
If your daughter is joining one of the performance groups, consider having her take Elements of Music. This course teaches the basics of music theory: notes, chords, dynamics, tempo, rhythm, etc., and would be a great help in reading music.

If your daughter is interested, ask her to please email Sr. Germaine and give her name and grade for next year.
