This coming Monday, June 12 marks the one year anniversary of the Pulse tragedy in our city. It has been designated
Orlando United Day - A Day of Love and Kindness by both the City of Orlando and Orange County Government.
Our School Resource Officer,
Andrew Bishop, is on the Orlando Police Department SWAT team and received a Medal of Honor for his actions as a first responder on June 12, 2016. Officer Bishop has been with the Orlando Police Department for 22 years and has served as an SRO for the last 11 years. As you can imagine, all of us at Jones High School are very proud of Officer Bishop. This coming Monday, kindly take a moment to remember the 49 innocent members of our community who lost their lives one year ago.
Officer Andrew Bishop,
Jones HS School Resource Officer
I would like to thank all of the students, parents, alumni, and community members who have reached out to me so far. I have enjoyed speaking with each and every one of you and you've truly made me feel welcome. I look forward to working with you to continue the amazing work that was accomplished this school year.
We are busy planning for a successful
2017-2018 school year. Students, please do your part by getting a head start on your summer reading assignments. You can also prevent the "summer slide" by spending 30 minutes a day on Khan Academy, a free resource available to all OCPS students.
Be sure to follow us on social media over the summer. You can also subscribe to our Remind text alerts by texting your first and last name to 470.440.0980.
Have a great weekend and if you are traveling, please drive safely.
Sincerely,
Allison Kirby
Principal
