Target Comes to Ballston
|
We are excited to welcome Target to the neighborhood in 2021! Target will be opening a new small-format 41,500-square-foot store in Ballston, at the intersection of Wilson Blvd and N. Glebe Road. The new store will be located on the first floor of the 12-story
mixed-use development
at 750 N. Glebe Road currently being built by Saul Centers, Inc. Customers at the new store will be able to purchase groceries, clothing and accessories, technology, beauty and home products, and toys and baby care items. Inside the store, there will also be a CVS Pharmacy. This future Target location will allow guests to order online and pick up products within one hour. Local guests, as well as visitors to the Ballston community, will enjoy a friendly and inspiring experience, featuring an assortment of groceries, exclusive apparel brands, a location to pick up online orders and the convenience of 40 dedicated parking spaces.

Taste of Arlington Recap
The 30th Annual Taste of Arlington attracted thousands of people to Ballston to sample delicious tastes from over 50 restaurants and food trucks, drink over 30 craft brews and give back to the Arlington community. We'd like to express your appreciation to all sponsors, restaurants, partners, volunteers, emergency management personnel and to the people that came out to enjoy the day! Thanks to your support we were able to match last year's donation of $25,000 to the Arlington Food Assistance Center, a community-based non-profit that provides supplemental groceries to our Arlington neighbors in need; serving up to
2,300 families weekly. We would like to offer our congratulations to the following 'Best of the Best' winners who were chosen by over 20 judges, consisting of local VIPs, food bloggers, food writers and radio personalities:

Color Your Future Garden at the Ballston Mega Market
Painting your vegetables may not be the best way to make sure they taste fresh, but it's a great way to envision how your garden grows. Join artist
Marcella Kriebel and Arlington Arts at the Ballston Mega Market on June 1st from 3-7pm and try your hand at a couple of watercolor strokes. Choose between four different black-line illustrations that you can then paint with watercolor however you please. Each template serves as a seed planting chart, with an illustration of a vegetable in one of the four seasons. Presented by Arlington Arts, the project is offered in cooperation with the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) and Arlington Urban Agriculture. AFAC will be on-site with Marcella, promoting their Plot Against Hunger program, offering free seeds for anyone to "Grow a Row" to later donate to AFAC.

World of Beer Rebrands
Ballston's very own World of Beer, along with two other locations in Reston and Fairfax, have been officially rebranded as Crafthouse. Owner and local entrepreneur Evan Matz says the new restaurant's mission is to "Drink Local, Eat Local, Support Local". The restaurant will feature beer from local breweries, as well as bourbons, whisky, wine and spirits made in Virginia. Menu items are made with fresh, high quality ingredients in a scratch kitchen. They will offer burgers, tacos and flatbread pizza, which customers can "build" to their own tastes, selecting ingredients of their choice. The restaurant will keep the laid back environment it has created over the past five years and will continue to be well-stocked with TVs, so customers may enjoy their favorite sports games.
