Grace: It's Our Way of Life
As Episcopal Christians we
  Worship at home daily and together weekly; Study the scriptures, our tradition, and what it means to be a disciple today; Serve our families, our parish, and our world in the name of  Christ. Everything we do is done with an ethic of Welcome because we are only here by Grace.
  Where have you welcomed,  worshiped, studied or served?

Fasting and Discipleship
by the Rev. Carlton Kelley
The Christian Church, most specifically the catholic and liturgical portions of the church, are churches that embrace discipline for the sake of building up Christ's Body.  We are made disciples of Jesus Christ by the disciplines we keep.  These disciplines, most especially in the sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Eucharist, keep us sound and whole centered and focused on our head, Jesus Christ.  Apart from these foundational disciplines there is very little that would make us distinctly Christ's Body, the church.  There is little that would make us recognizable as a peculiar people who are the vanguard - the foretaste of the kingdom - of Jesus Christ to the world.  Click here to read more...
Changes to Wednesday Eucharist
by the Rev. Carlton Kelley

After discussion with people who attend the Wednesday Eucharist and those who don't,  I think now is the time to make a change in the shape of this liturgy.  We will gather, as usual, at 10am on Wednesday in the church.  We will not be sitting around the main altar, but will sit in the pews in the front and use a smaller table on the floor near those pews as the "altar."  The discussion and Bible study that now takes place at the sermon time will happen after the Eucharist.  This will allow

1. People to attend only the Eucharist;

2. People to attend the Bible study/discussion and/or the Eucharist and;

3. People to attend Centering Prayer after the Eucharist.

The Eucharist itself should take no more than 25 minutes which is the customary time for a simple said Eucharist without hymns or sermon. This will begin on Wednesday, June 14.

Traverse Deanery meeting June 17 at 10 am
The Diocese of Western Michigan is divided into geographic areas, called Deaneries.  The Bishop created a task force for the purpose of evaluating the efficiency of organizing the Diocese in this way.  The Diocesan Restructuring Task Force, comprised of representatives from the Standing Committee, Diocesan Council and the original Restructuring Task Force, will present its recommendations on staffing, budget and funding, canon changes and more at the Deanery meeting at Grace on June 17. In a video message to the diocese, Bishop Whayne Houghland explains why the input and support of Episcopalians across the diocese is important as we prepare to discuss and implement these upcoming changes.  Go to this link to view the video, and join us on June 17 from 10 am to noon.

What's Happening at Grace?

What's Happening in our Diocese?

Turn in your Oleson's receipts to benefit the Grace Food Pantry!

Oleson's Community Share Program

Here's how it works:
  1. You shop at Oleson's for groceries (liquor sales do not qualify for points)
  2. Turn in your receipts to the church.  Look for the envelope on the bulletin board in the Parish Hall, and place your receipts inside it.
  3. We submit receipts back to Oleson's
  4. We are granted cash rewards for the food pantry ($1 spent on groceries = 1 cent in Community Share points)

For every $5000 in receipts we submit, we receive $50 in cash for our food pantry.  Every little bit helps!

Thank you for participating!
