Highlights from the First Annual All Partner Meeting & Celebration

The first Annual All Partner and 3rd Birthday Celebration offered NJHC partners an opportunity to gather and celebrate the significant milestones of the Collaborative's first three years.  Highlights from the meeting can be found here.

Leadership Service Awards were presented to three of our founding leaders for their dedication and service during the critical formative years of the NJHC. Recipients of the Leadership awards were Chris Kirk, NJHC President & Chair, Faith Scott, NJHC Treasurer, and Peter Tabbot, Morris County Chair.

Following the awards, the Board of Trustees approved the election of three new Officers. We are thrilled to welcome the following individuals to the NJHC Leadership team for 2017:

President: Arlene Stoller, Morris County Office of Health Management
Treasurer: Peter Correale, Pequannock Township Department of Health
Secretary: Ashley Anglin, PhD, Atlantic Health System

The keynote presentation at the All Partner Event was provided by Bob Atkins, PhD, Director of New Jersey Health Initiatives. Dr. Atkins shared his wisdom and experience in creating healthier communities in NJ.  He reminded us about the importance of a bottom up, upstream approach, and building upon the assets of a community, as well as the importance of telling stories of success and failures encountered along the way as opportunities for shared learning. Slides from the presentation titled Moving Communities to Better Health and can be found on ou Professional Development  page  here .   T o supplement the slides, points of discussion were also covered in a recent post title Tackling Life Expectancy Gaps in NJ, access   here.
NJHC receives national attention in Practical Playbook "Success Stories"

The Practical Playbook was developed in 2012 in response to the Institute of Medicine report "Primary Care and Public Health: Exploring Integration to Improve Population Health. It supports increased collaborations to achieve population health across diverse organizations and sectors by guiding users through the stages of building partnerships. Throughout each stage, the Practical Playbook provides helpful resources such as success stories from across the country, lessons-learned from existing partnerships, and further guidance from industry experts.

NJHC is honored to be recognized as a success story on the Practical Playbook website.   This news was also captured in the most recent issue of the NJ State Department of Health newsletter. (see the Winter 2016 issue, page 8).
