TACDL Members,

June is right around the corner and it is going to be a great month to attend a CLE or come to a roundtable!

Make sure you are following TACDL on Twitter and Facebook so you can stay connected with us.

I will be moving our list-serv from yahoo to mail-list the first of July. It is secure and will be easier to use. Any questions or concerns please let me know. I promise it will be a smooth transition.

TACDL Shirts
I am placing an order for some TACDL shirts! I will be offering a regular tee-shirt and a polo shirt.

Thanks,
Tracey Hawk

June Roundtable Schedule

June 1st
Nashville
6:00 pm
1308 Rosa L Parks Blvd, Nashville, TN 37208
Topic: Ed Ryan with the DA office will discuss the Conviction Review Unit Program

Murfreesboro
Our next meeting will be Thursday, June 1, at 4:30, at Jack's Place
I was contacted by Joey Fuson, who wants to attend our round table, and he offered to present. He recently did a DUI presentation for the TBA, so he will do the same for us. If we have time, Whitney Raque has her first jury trial coming up in August, and it's a big one - attempted first degree murder. She wants to run ideas by us and generally discuss the trial, so if there isn't time available, our July meeting will focus on helping her.

June 8th
Clarksville
Location: Basement of Pete Olson Law Firm, 114 Franklin St,
enter basement from alley behind building
Date: June 8
Time: 4:30pm

Thanks Rich, Jack, Roger and Ed for making these Roundtables happen!

Jessica Van Dyke has spent the past several years being an advocate for better standards and better pay for post-conviction cases here in Tennessee. Take a moment and learn about the Thomas Edward Clardy trial after the trial case
Jessica was interviewed on WNYC about how defendants struggle to find justice in Tennessee and the Clardy case. It is worth a listen. Congrats to Jessica and her work on post conviction relief makes justice fair here in Tennessee.

Falsely charged parent with agg assault by strangulation of unruly teenage daughter has all counts acquitted in two day jury trial. ADA reads a confession to jury but defense attorney proves crime never occurred-thus defendant couldn't really confess.  Not many witnesses and credibility was issue. But with full confession-still looked a lot like a rabbit -out -a hat. ADA complained 3 too many Dempsey lawyers at defense table. Had privilege of law partner daughter and senior law student son - joining me at trial.  We made excellent team. Thanks TACDL for years of support. Benjamin Dempsey
