The  Hepatitis B Foundation launched another #justB story with William! William shares his experience about first learning his status after preparing for his life with his new family. After further tests, he was reassured that he could continue to living a long life with monitoring, dietary changes, and an active lifestyle.

Hep B United Mini-Grants: Expanding Reach One Grant at a Time!

Please join Hep B United on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 EDT for a webinar featuring Hep B United Mini-Grantees. 

In the United States, over 2 million Americans are living with chronic hepatitis B infection, only 25 percent are aware of their infection, and less than 10 percent of infected individuals are able to access care and receive treatment. Join us for this interactive session to learn about local hepatitis B coalition efforts to reduce the barriers associated with hepatitis B in their communities. Three recipients of the Hep B United Mini-Grant will present on their efforts.  Panelists will be sharing their challenges and successes in diverse programming to expand hepatitis B screening, education and awareness to communities in Chicago, IL, Houston, TX, and St. Paul, MN.  Learn about the Mini-Grant process through Hep B United!

Great Read!: "Other" is NOT a Race or Ethnicity: The Need for Better HIV and Hepatitis Data for Das and NHPIs

In the world of public health, numbers often matter for most advocates, policymakers, and advocates. Data can determine funding and where public health efforts are focused. Asian Americans (AAs) and Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islanders (NHPI) are often categorized in the "Other" category, while studies often focus only on White, Black, and Latino data. It is important that charts, graphs, and tables are also made for AAs and NHPIs because data collection varies by state and there is a lack of consistency.

Partner Update

During Hepatitis Awareness Month, TEAM HBV NY and Hep Free NYC were at City Hall Steps in New York. Giyoung, the leader of TEAM HBV NY, spoke about hep B on behalf of the students. Giyoung's speech and the press release were posted on a major Korea Daily NY, a major Korean newspaper. You can read more here for the story in Korean.
