Summer Assignments
Reading
York Catholic High School views the development of life-long habits of reading as a hallmark of an educated man or woman, and it encourages each student to read widely throughout the year.  The school also recognizes the value of other on-going academic engagement during the summer months.  Summer reading and other intellectual activities serve to stimulate, to enrich, and to reinforce academic skills during the summer hiatus.  Each current student has received a packet with the assignments for summer reading.  The assignments are also available on the home page of the YC website at  www.yorkcatholic.org  in the Announcements section, titled, "Summer Assignments," and on the Forms & Documents page.  Each grade level's requirements are clearly explained and testing and/or projects are due at the start of the 2017-18 school year. Click  here  for the list of books for the summer reading projects.

Math
Keeping students' math skills strong during the summer months helps to avoid the "summer slide" and aids in less review time when school resumes. Students should complete their Summer Math Assignments and return them by August 28.  The assignments are available on the home page of the YC website at  www.yorkcatholic.org  in the Announcements section, titled, "Summer Assignments," and on the Forms & Documents page.

Thank You Parents!
Thank you to all the parents of the Class of 2017 for making York Catholic's annual Senior Breakfast so memorable.  A special thank you to the parent volunteers for your time and talents. It would not have been a success without each of you.
Thank You from the Community
The junior  Morality class used spiritual adoption as their Pro Life activity.  The students prayed for "Baby Lily" for 9 months while learning about a baby's monthly development in the womb.  The students hosted a baby shower which included prayers for the baby - "I pray you learn to make smart choices in life," "I pray you become who you dream to be," "I pray you grow with no danger," "I pray you never forget family and where you've come from," "I pray you love your life."
The shower gifts were donated to the Pregnancy & Family Resource Center.  Ms. Clinton received a thank you letter from Mrs. Linda Skehan, Executive Director of the Center:

"...I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the relevant and powerful experience you provided for your class.  That experience on Friday really makes me glad I've sent my children to YC, and I am grateful for all who have been educated in your Religion class."
