Not those volunteers! We need your help for the Summer Leadership Institute.

We're anticipating more than 1,000 leaders attending our week-long leadership training conference during the 2017 Summer Leadership Institute. To ensure we have a successful week, we're seeking the help of volunteers (all team affiliations welcome!)

You can sign up to help out for one day or for the whole week. From June 14-23, we need help with set-up and hands-on help during the conference to equip our school leaders for a successful 2017-18 school year. Orange bow tie optional!

Check out this flyer to learn how you can help make our Summer Leadership Institute a success!

There's still time to sign up for the #GreaterSCS Engagement Summit.

On the road to Destination 2025, we’ll meet a lot of new friends who will play big roles in the work of our District. These friends may be parents, volunteers, adopters or other community partners; no matter who they are, they’re crucial to the success of our schools and community. On June 16, we’ll host our first ever engagement summit, "#GreaterSCS – Mobilizing Families & Community Partners," to share strategies that will help grow and strengthen your school’s support system. This is a one-of-a-kind professional development opportunity, and we know you’ll walk away with new skills in your engagement toolbox.

Click here to RSVP for the half-day PD sessions. Stipends and PD credit will be provided.

Send us grade-A teachers to earn $500 bucks!

Who better to recommend strong teaching candidates to our District than our current teachers? You know what it takes to build relationships with students and families, develop engaging strategies and implement rigor as you plan your lessons. If you know someone who would be an excellent teacher in our District, let us know here! You could earn $500 for your referral.

Save the Date: Memphis Association of Black Journalists #InspireBlackMen

This Saturday, the Memphis Association of Black Journalists (MABJ) will host an interactive discussion on black men in news and society. The discussion is aimed at helping the community understand how media can work with the public to change the portrayal of stereotypes of black males in media. Special guest speakers include Local 24's Montee Lopez, Action News 5's Jerry Askin and Fox 13's Kennan Oliphant. The discussion will be at Greater Imani Church on June 10 from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Visit the MABJ website for more information.

Skip the trip to the book store! Summer reading is available online.

ELA teachers, we're bringing the books to you this summer! That's one less trip to the bookstore for summer reading assignments (unless the bookstore is your happy place!). You can now read the books on your iPad, e-reader, tablet, smart phone or computer! Check out the updated summer reading list, and access digital copies of assigned reading here.
