Aloha ,

This morning, as I drove from my home in West Oahu to Honolulu Hale, I glanced out across Pearl Harbor to get a glimpse of the Arizona Memorial and said a quiet thank you; not just to the men and women memorialized there but to all the heroes throughout our nation's history who answered the call to serve but never came home.  Being a military spouse, like so many of us here on the Island, I think about that every time my husband Brian puts on his uniform and heads out the door for work.

Throughout the year we have certain days set aside for us to take pause to reflect and give thanks for all that we are, for all that we have, for the opportunities that we've been given, and most of all to give thanks to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.  It is because of them,  we are able to enjoy our cherished freedoms of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

As we gather around the barbecue, the beach, or in our backyards this Memorial Day weekend, let us all enjoy those freedoms with family, friends, neighbors as we remember those who fought tirelessly for the priceless gifts that we have been given.

Happy Memorial Day to you and your family.
