Attorney Spotlight: Jessica Powers, Powers Injury Law
Years Volunteering with BBVLP:
7 years working with clients, 4 years as a board member
Current Case:
Jessica helped the stepfather of an eight-year-old boy adopt him so that the boy, stepfather, and mother could be a family.
Why was this case meaningful?
"The family works hard but still doesn't make enough money to afford legal work," Jessica said. "Without the service of the Birmingham Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program, the adoption would have been put off for years. The family needed it to take place so that they could move on with their lives".
What the client said:
"The representation was amazing," the stepfather said. "She was always friendly and eager to help me achieve the goal of adopting my son."
