Dear Parents,

This Sunday, May 28th, the Church celebrates the
Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, which is a commemoration of the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

From the early days of the Church the faithful believed in this reality and today we express the same belief when we proclaim, before we receive the Holy Eucharist, at each Mass, "Amen!"

Although, the appearance of the bread and wine remain, the underlying substance of bread and wine change to reflect the new reality: the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Christ. This transformation takes place through the words and actions of the priest and by the power of the Holy Spirit. This is a great mystery of our Catholic faith, Sunday is a special celebration of it.

Quote from Pope Francis:

" Let us learn from Christ how to pray, to forgive, to sow peace, and to be near those in need."

Faithfully yours,

Miss Giaquinto

Golf Classic Thank you!

Last Friday evening was the 12th Annual SCSS Golf Classic. It was a successful event and a beautiful day for golfing!

A special thank you goes out to our co-chairs Steve Burke and Ken Martin for their dedication and time in making this event happen.
I am grateful
to the committee members and all the volunteers that helped to make this event successful.

We are so very fortunate for all the advances that we are able to have at our school because of this event.  The proceeds of the golf classic directly impact the education of all the students at SCSS.

News From The Nurse

Stay Hydrated
Reminder: Due to the excess heat index and elevated temperatures, please send your child(ren) into school with a re-usable water bottle (Please Do Not send in Poland Spring/Deer Park or other brands of store bought plastic bottles).  There is a water station in the hallway for the children to refill their bottles.  It is important for the children to remain hydrated while at school during these last few weeks of school.

Sunscreen:  Now that the warm weather has arrived, the children will be going outside for recess and physical education classes.  If your child requires sunscreen application, please remember to apply prior to arrival to school.  The staff and school nurse are not responsible for sunscreen.

Tick Treatment:  The grassy area behind the school was sprayed for Ticks last Friday, May 12th.  There have been an increase of reported ticks.  Please also check your child for ticks at home, especially if they are playing near wooded areas.

Additional information regarding Lyme disease and Tick prevention can be found at www.cdc.gov/lyme
