HELP FEED THE HUNGRY

Can you volunteer a minimum of three hours a month at the Pike County Outreach Council food pantry?

The Outreach Council is looking for dedicated people to do intake or distribute food at the pantry located at 107 W. Second St. in downtown Waverly. The pantry is open Monday -Friday 9-3; Thursday evening 6-8; and Saturday 10-1. Call Autumn at 740-941-4348 if you can assist in this important ministry.

We operate the only food pantry in Pike County. Households may come to the pantry every 7 days. We offer a variety of food for Pike Countians at our choice pantry. We need you to either greet the customers and do the intake paperwork or assist our customers as they choose products from 15 or more categories.

We provided 308,259 meals in 2016.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Help us provide food for seniors who are surviving on Social Security and very little food stamps.

Help us feed your disabled friends and neighbors.

Help us feed families with young children and hungry teenagers.

Call Autumn today! 740-941-4348

ONLINE SURVEY to GATHER FEEDBACK
on Modernized Business Gateway

As you may be aware, the Ohio Business Gateway is undergoing a modernization. The Gateway Modernization Project will transform the current Gateway into a more user-friendly, reliable and secure portal that provides Ohio businesses with online access to business-related services provided by the State.

As a part of this effort, we are conducting a series of online surveys to solicit feedback on the modernized Gateway from current business users to help ensure that we are developing a modernized system that meets their needs.

The second of three surveys is Now Open and can be accessed by visiting this link. This survey will be open through Friday, June 9th and takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.

The survey is open to anyone who is interested in providing feedback on the modernized Gateway.

THE OFFICE of LEGACY MANAGEMENT
Rolls Out Fiscal Year 2018 Budget Request

WASHINGTON, D.C. - On Tuesday, May 23, the Office of Legacy Management (LM) rolled out its fiscal year (FY) 2018 budget request of approximately $155 million. This FY 2018 budget request is approximately $13 million below the FY 2016 enacted budget and at a similar level of our funding available in FY 2017. This funding decrease between FY 2016 and FY 2018 levels will not impact LM's ability to carry out its post-closure responsibilities at its 90+ sites. The FY 2018 budget fully funds post-retirement benefits and addresses increased site maintenance requirements. It realizes the reduction in administration costs resulting from improved management of pensions and post-retirement benefits.

"Legacy Management will continue to keep the promises made to our Cold War communities and former workers, optimizing every dollar entrusted to us to meet our mission," stated Carmelo Melendez, Director of LM.

LM's FY 2018 request provides the resources necessary for LM to continue the following mission-related activities:
  • performing long-term surveillance and maintenance (LTS&M) at over 90 sites;
  • providing funding for payment of post-retirement benefits to over 10,000 former DOE contractor employees;
  • supporting remaining pension plans for closure sites;
  • managing records and information;
  • strengthening cybersecurity efforts;
  • pursuing beneficial reuse of properties;
  • managing infrastructure and facilities at LM sites;
  • engaging the public and performing public education and outreach; and
  • supporting an interagency agreement to address abandoned defense-related uranium mines
The amount of funding requested is also sufficient for LM to address its growing site responsibilities and requirements going forward.

More information on LM's FY 2018 budget request is available at
