ACADEMIC AWARDS: The academic awards for underclassmen will be presented today, May 19, after lunch during a special assembly. A list of award winners will be posted soon. The senior awards will be presented at Commencement on May 27. The ceremony begins at 9:30AM.

SPRING CONCERT: The annual Big Spring Concert is this evening, May 19, at 7PM and is showcasing the talents of BRS musicians and singers. For the live-stream video, click here

TRACK: For the first time in School history, the Blue Ridge School track team won the VIC Championship on Saturday, May 13, with an impressive score of 160 points.  Other meet finishers were Eastern Mennonite School (102), Hargrave Military Academy (93), Virginia Episcopal School (57), Fishburne Military School (39) and Roanoke Catholic School (38). The team was 21-3 on the season. BRS qualifiers are competing in the VISAA State Track Championship at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond on Saturday, May 20.  For the VIC Championship results, click here
 

GOLF: The golf team  beat Covenant on Wednesday, May 17, but lost to Benedictine the next day. Pearson White was the team medalist. He shot his personal best ever score of 45 in his final match as a Baron! Team members this year included Khaled Aburamadan '19, Connor Barth '19, Bryce Bongiovanni '17, Devin Corini '19, Jaden Frazier '19, Pablo Llado '17, JacQuan Newman '18, Dial Powers'18, Freeman Paulson '19 and Tyler Wills '18 .  The team had nine wins and eight losses on the season.
 
VISAA CHAMPIONS: The varsity basketball team received their championship rings on Wednesday, May 17, in a ceremony held in Gibson Memorial Chapel.  Josh Colon '17 and Aamir Simms '17 spoke briefly about the team's dedication and motivation to win the VISAA Division II State Championship this season. Head Coach Cade Lemcke thanked the team members and his assistant coaches Tladi Conway, Joseph Toe and Parker Kirwan. The team captains this year were seniors Josh Colon, Aamir Simms and Marcus Valeiras.  Other team members were Richard Amaefule '20, Sardaar Calhoun '18, Cameron Carr '18, Jaden Frazier '19, Naz Hopson '17, Myles Jones '18, Xavier Kane '19, Darius McGhee '18 and Dhruv Mehrota '19. Managers were Keane Emmans-McGill '19, Franck Germain '18 and Chris Richmond '18.

VAHS:  The VAHS Mountain Bike State Championship was held at Blue Ridge last Saturday, May 13. Bryce Aylor '19, Jared Brown '17,  Spencer Cook '17, Tony Jin '20, Kellam Lloyd '20, Selby Morgan '19, RoRo Rymer '17 and InYong Song '18 were entered in the JV category.  Each of these bikers completed two laps (eight miles). Spencer Cook was the first BRS rider to finish.  His time was 1:00:51.49.   The VAHS MTB series (Virginia's official interscholastic mountain bike race series sanctioned by USA Cycling) includes five races throughout the state.
 
More than 240 elementary-to-high-school-aged riders participated on BRS' challenging course that includes sustained climbs, tight rocky terrain and flow trails. It is the most technical course of the VAHS series.
