Your next newsletter will arrive in August prior to
Get Connected Day
on August 24th.
As this year closes and we look ahead to next year, many shifts will occur as we pursue exciting updates to our spaces and programming. Construction will be in full swing, and many staff members will move to new teaching and learning stations for next year. We will have some new spaces ready for use as school begins, with an updated Media Center and Student Services Suite among them. A number of staff members will be moving to new buildings, roles and challenges next year. In particular, most of our teachers of 9th grade students will be moving to Edina High School. Please know that we have spent some time celebrating the many contributions of those staff members who are moving on to new challenges next year. We will miss them but are grateful for all the work they have invested in making a difference for our young people and on behalf of this community. We look forward to introducing our new staff members to you as we send out back-to-school information in late summer. It has been a wonderful year of learning and growing for our students and for our staff collaborating with each other and you, our wonderful parents, guardians and community partners. Thanks for a great year & have a great summer!

Construction Updates
The
district
will continue to provide construction updates for staff and families throughout the summer. Such updates will generally be provided via email and posted on the district website at
edinaschools.org/ConstructionUpdate.
Be sure to check your mail periodically for updates and progress reports.
Fidgets at School
As has been widely reported in the local and national media of late, the latest craze among young people is the use of spinners, putty and other fidgets. For some children, these objects can be tools for helping kids focus and self-regulate their behavior. For most kids, they are toys. As with other toys, the district encourages students to leave such instruments at home so as to avoid them becoming a distraction in the classroom or getting lost or stolen. It is important to distinguish the difference between whether the object is perceived as a "toy" or a "tool" by the student. If it is a toy, then it should be left at home. If it is a tool, there should be a conversation with the teacher about appropriate use and clear expectations established. If you believe your child has an academic need to utilize these tools for concentration or regulation, you are encouraged to talk with your child's teacher about appropriate use and student expectations.
