Township of Brock Community Accessibility Event

The Township of Brock Accessibility Advisory Committee regret to inform the public of the cancellation of the Township of Brock Community Accessibility Event scheduled for May 29, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at the Rick MacLeish Memorial Community Centre. 
 
Accessibility is of the utmost importance in the Township of Brock and we strive to educate and inspire residents to surpass accessibility regulations to ensure an accessible environment for all. 
 
We thank everyone for their interest in the event and hope that other accessibility initiatives can be held in the future.

Media Release - Brock Tourism Business Retention and Expansion Project Underway

The Township of Brock Tourism Business Retention and Expansion (BR+E) project is underway. This community based business visitation project was initiated by the Township of Brock's Economic Development Advisory Committee (BEDAC) and is being led by the Township of Brock with assistance from the  Region of Durham Planning & Economic Development Department. Additional partners include  Durham Tourism, the  Brock Board of Trade (BBOT) and  Durham Workforce Authority

The BR+E process is a key step in building an effective partnership between local businesses and the community."We encourage businesses and the community to get behind this project and help drive tourism in Brock Township. Bringing new visitors also brings an influx of outside spending and helps our local businesses thrive", says Deputy Mayor Ted Smith.

Fire Department - Burn By-law Clarification
 
Spring has arrived! The Brock Township Fire Department would like to remind residents of the burn By-law regulations and to note the difference between open air burning and recreational fires:
1) Open-air burning (i.e. non recreational fires) is NOT permitted within the urban areas of Beaverton, Cannington or Sunderland, the hamlets of Gamebridge, Port Bolster, Wilfrid, Manilla or Property Zoned Rural Residential (RR) or fronting Pines Lane. 

2) Recreational fires used for cooking food and warmth that are no larger than 2 feet x 2 feet, do not require a permit and are permitted on all properties subject to meeting the requirements of the by-law and the Ontario Fire Code.

3) Burning in a barrel is permitted within the Shoreline Residential (SR) Zone provided that a permit has been issued. 

4) Burning in a barrel is NOT permitted within the urban areas of Beaverton, Cannington or Sunderland, the hamlet of Gamebridge, Port Bolster, Wilfrid, Manilla or Property Zoned Rural Residential (RR) or fronting Pines Lane. 

5) If you are in doubt, please contact the Fire Department at 705-432-2355.

Summer Day Camp Registration - Camp Registration is now available online 
  • Early Bird Deadline - Savings of $10 per child per session if registered by May 31, 2017. 
  • Regular Rate - As of June 1, 2017 Day Camp will increase in prices to its regular rate. 
Spring Fitness Schedule  - Lots of fitness classes available to help you stay active! Details, costs and information on the classes are available at townshipofbrock.ca

Roller Disco  - Roller Disco is back! The next event is May 26th at the Beaverton-Thorah Community Centre. Admission is only $3.00 and will continue throughout the season on a r otating schedule

Trail Run & Ride 
The Annual Beaver River Trail Run & Ride will be held on May 27th & 28th, 2017. The Saturday will feature the run with categories for every level and ability, and the Sunday will feature the ride offering something for every level and ability. 2017 Township of Brock Accessibility Award

Reminder that nominations are being accepted for the 2017 Township of Brock Accessibility  Award. This award is presented once a year to a business or organization in the Township that has shown a concerted effort to improve accessibility. To submit a nomination please fill out the online form by May 31, 2017.

Township of Brock 19th Annual Charity Golf Tournament

The Township of Brock is proud to present the  19th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Cedarhurst Golf Course on Thursday June 22, 2017. All proceeds raised will be used to assist local non-profit organizations in completing quality youth-oriented projects and programs in our Township. Over the past 18 years 
participants have raised $168,640 which have been distributed to over 113 youth projects. Registration includes a barbeque lunch, all-u-can-east roast beef dinner, a prize, and entry into the putting and chipping contests! 

Various sponsorship opportunities are also available including hole sponsorship, advertisement space in the program, prize donations and more! No contribution is considered too small.

Save the Date! Official Celebration of the Beaver Trail Extension Rehabilitation

On May 27th, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. join members of Council for the official ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the  rehabilitation of the Beaver River Trail Extension at MacLeod Park in Cannington. The Township of was honoured to be a recipient of Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program funds for the Rehabilitation of trail. Cake and light refreshments to follow. Please RSVP online in advance of the celebration.
