 MISSIONS

An Update from Our Missionary Partners, Victor and Sarah Gaultney (Wycliffe Bible Translators)
 Dear Friends,
For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them. Matthew 18:20 ESV
In March, the Baka of South Sudan gathered to celebrate. It was the largest event ever held in that part of the country. Dignitaries came from near and far: a governor, a general, and bishops and archbishops of various denominations. Over 7,000 people attended the five-hour celebration, with speeches, singing, dancing, and choirs.  The reason? The New Testament and Genesis were finally available in the Baka language. The boxes of precious books were opened. People surged around the tables to buy their own copy, then sat down and started to read. This milestone was really only a beginning. Pray that as people take God's Word into their eyes and hearts, they would be transformed and be called to share that message with many others.

Honduras Orphanage Clothing Drive
Now through May 31, we will be collecting donations of gently used children's clothing, backpacks, light jackets and shoes.  The children are between 4 and 18 years old.   Bring your items to the church and place in the designated boxes in the Family Life Center.

Summer Reading Ministry
We are putting together a team to tutor students in reading.  Volunteers will need to attend training on June 6th or 8th from noon-1 PM located at 3010 Mustang Dr..  Classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon-1 PM, June 20 th -August 10th.  Volunteers can sign up for the days that work with their summer schedules.

Join us this Sunday, May 21st, at 7 PM, in the conference room as we share practical advice on how to cope when our children go off to college.  We will focus our discussion on healthy transition through this stage of parenting, and on how we can help our youth prepare for college socially, spiritually and practically.  Even if your children are still a few years away from going off to college, it would be good to start preparing in advance.  OTHER
Thank You Sunday School Teachers!
From Carol Mayerhoff
Our Sunday School year comes to a close on Sunday, May 21st.  There will be no children's Sunday School class during the summer although there are other opportunities for them to grow in the Word.  Vacation Bible School begins June 4th, and David Coulson has youth camps, retreats, and local events planned for the children during the summer months.  Do take advantage of those opportunities.  We will begin Sunday School classes again in the Fall.
Thank you to all our dedicated teachers who have been so faithful at "feeding His Lambs" by preparing and teaching lessons for the children each week.  They truly seem to love the children and treasure sharing God's love with each of them.  Thanks for all your time and work, teachers!
