Neighbourhood Watch Program
Constables Jason Coombs and Tanya Swartz of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) in collaboration with the Town of Paradise, hosted an information session on the Neighbourhood Watch Program. The event was held as part of Municipal Awareness Days.

Neighbourhood Watch is a voluntary crime prevention program that is run by neighbours for the mutual benefit of all neighbours in the neighbourhood to generate solutions to a common problem.

The Constables advice is "be the neighbour that you wish someone would be for you" and to report any suspicious activity you see in your neighbourhood. They say that "crime cannot thrive in a community that cares."

The RNC says that Neighbourhood Watch is about responsible reporting, and the one thing needed to have a successful program is interested citizens. These programs are run by residents with the support of RNC and the Town.

If you are interested in starting a Neighbourhood Watch Program in your area or would like more information, please contact the Town at 782-1400 or email.
Culvert Repair on Topsail Road
Work will begin the week Of May 23 to repair a culvert under the area of 1297 Topsail (near RONA), but it will be completed without excavating the road.

The project is using a method that has proven successful in other municipalities. The work is done under the road, with a new lining system placed in the culvert.

While construction crews and equipment will be in the area, with this method, Topsail Road will not be directly impacted and minimal to no traffic interruptions are expected. During construction, the public is reminded to use caution in area.
