May 18, 2017

As summer break nears, there are two planning notifications from the health clinic:
  • Parents whose child has medication at the school or in the health clinic need to pick it up before Friday, May 26. By Ohio law, children are not allowed to transport these medications to and from school. Because of this, medication must be picked up by an adult or the medication is required to be wasted or destroyed.

  • Students in the Class of 2018 are required to have a second dose of the meningitis/menactra vaccine before August 28. If your child received their first dose of the vaccine after the age of 16, your student will not need a second dose.
Please contact the health clinic if you have any questions about the above items.

MINISTRY & SERVICE

From the Chaplain's Office
The month of May is traditionally dedicated to Mary, the Mother of God. For the CJ community, this is particularly special because we were founded by two Religious Orders dedicated to Mary. As we prepare to enter into summer break, let's pray that Mary watch over us and guide us safely wherever we go. The following prayer (known by its Latin name "Sub Tuum Preasidium") comes from the 3rd century:

Under your protection
we seek refuge,
Holy Mother of God.
Do not despise our prayers
in time of necessity,
but save us from every danger,
O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.

Computer Skills Requirement Class - UPDATE
As we are now completing our fourth year of The Connected Classroom program, we have reviewed the requirement for freshmen to take computer skills tests and, if not passed, take the computer topics class. From what students are learning in middle school and during their time at CJ in our one-to-one Chromebook environment, the students have learned the basic skills that were being tested by the computer tests. Therefore, starting with the Class of 2020, it is no longer a requirement that students take the computer topics class or test out of the class by passing the computer skills tests. CJ will continue to offer the computer topics class as an elective for students who would like to learn more about the Google suite of products and Microsoft Office programs.
