It's Rhubarb Time!

The Douglas Farmers Market will once again open it's season by paying homage to  Rhubarb  with it's fifth annual  Rhubarb   Challenge . This event gets better every year. Over the last couple years, locals have come forth with their finest Rhubarb creations.  We have seen entries from beautiful pies and ice cream to chutney, barbecue, beer, and bread. All of it for the love of  Rhubarb . Whether you grew up eating it or have never heard of it, we welcome you to take on the Rhubarb challenge!

Entries are judged by community judge panel and we also welcome a peoples choice award to the event which is voted on by purchasing a tasting plate and ballot. If you are not planning to enter the event, you can come by to vote for your favorite Rhubarb dish. We promise it will be hard to pick.

The Rhubarb Challenge invites those who want to share their creative culinary talents and love for rhubarb by entering their most scrumptious rhubarb masterpieces.  Prizes will be awarded in three categories; sweets, savory, and condiments. Any dish that includes rhubarb in the recipe is welcome. Come join us with your favorite rhubarb creation on Saturday, June 17. Entries will be accepted between 8:30 and 9am, and the Rhubarb Champion will be crowned at 11am.
Photography Contest

The Douglas Farmers Market and Historical Society are having a photography contest! There are two categories: adults and kids. Adult photos must represent some piece of Douglas history and be submitted with a $10 entry fee. The theme for the kids' (grades 2-12) category is "Douglas Through a Child's Eye," and the entry fee is $5.

All photos must be 11x14 and submitted no later than June 1. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top photo in each category, and all photos will be displayed and judged at Open Mic Night at the Jenckes Store on June 3.
Decorate Your Ride!

The Douglas Farmers Market invites you to bring your decorated bicycles, tricycles, strollers, unicycles, and wagons to participate in the Douglas Memorial Day Parade on May 28. Meet at the Jenckes Store at 12:30 for snacks followed by the parade at 1pm.
