Lots Going On At The Ranch!
Oh my goodness, Allan has been SO busy lately, what with irrigating and tending to cows giving birth. He is focusing a lot of energy on improving the ranch and our leases, with great results. He promises that all of this will allow him much more free time in the future. I certainly hope so, because he is one tired puppy.

And finally the day is done. Left and above are taken at sunset from the back porch and the front.

New Bundle Of Joy

As you may or may not know, Tamura Peterson helps me in the warehouse to pack and ship your orders. Tami (as I call her) and I decided that since UPS was not shipping on Memorial Day anyway, we would join most of the rest of the country and take the day off. Good thing we did!

Tami delivered her grandson, Calvin, at her daughter Karli's home birth. The midwife was on her way but not soon enough, so Tami had the amazing joy and privilege of delivering Calvin. She is more than qualified and loved the experience. Congrats to all!
More New Life

I think these bunnies are nested somewhere near our house because we see them scampering around the side and front. It's hard to imagine how little they are from this picture, but they are really quite small. So cute to see them out discovering the world.
Chicken Update
So I reported last month that we bought 36 new chicks, and they are all alive and doing very well. This is their first day out of the chicken house and they are loving the green grass. I also fed them some of the spinach stems and leaves that were going to seed in my greenhouse, which they loved.
Getting My Garden Going
Lettuce, kale and radishes
Beans
Peppers
Celery and beets

Peas - they will climb the sticks as they grow
My greenhouse is doing great. Mostly everything has sprouted and is growing quite nicely.

I have a few other bins planted with melons and squash (not pictured).

Broccoli, spinach and celery planted last fall, still producing

Allan also created an outside garden for me along the south side of the greenhouse, using straw bales to form the walls, then filling the inside with a layer of straw followed by topsoil. I sprinkled a fine layer of straw over the top to help hold the moisture while the seeds are germinating, so it is a little hard to see the boundaries in this picture (below center). While it is completely planted, it is just now beginning to sprout. I have onions, garlic, asparagus, beans, peas, broccoli, cauliflower, squash, tomatoes, and melons planted.

Potatoes planted in these buckets. I will add more dirt as they grow.

Lettuce and spinach that came back from last year, in an old  water trough.

Pagosa Springs Farmer's Market Starts Soon

Farmer's Market begins Saturday, June 17th, and will continue until the 16th of September. It goes from 9:00 in the morning till 1:00 in the afternoon, and if it is at all like the markets in the past, it is guaranteed to please and be a fun time for everyone.

Meat Inventory Update
If you have attempted to place an order recently you are surely aware that we are out of stock on many of our beef cuts and packages. We apologize for this, but we will have new stock available by the end of June.

We are also entering into the hottest season of the year and will be including dry ice in your boxes, increasing the cost of shipping just a bit. Please don't be surprised if there is no ice left in your box when it arrives, as most of it dissipates along the way.
