News From The Field:
Training of Trainers Program Success

We are thrilled to share the news that our first Training of Trainers program was a huge success! 30 participants gathered in early April for this two-day training including members of the Benguet Association of Seed Savers (BASS) and staff of the Municipal Agriculture Office in the Municipality of Tublay.

During the training participants learned about self-awareness, presentation skills, communication skills, and leadership development. Participants also practiced teaching their peers key elements of basic seed saving including how to save tomato seeds and how to clean and save corn.

We are excited to see these farmers step into co-facilitation roles during two upcoming Seed School in a Day programs we are leading for new partners in the Philippines later this month.

Peer-to-peer education is a key component to the long-term sustainability of our programs. And these farmers are fired up to teach more people about the importance of Seed Saving!

Thanks to all that joined for this event and learned about the 90% loss of food diversity we are experiencing and what we can do to change this!

Special thanks to Bill McDorman, the Executive Director of the Rocky Mountain Seed Alliance , for leading a post film Q&A. Bill is featured in the film and is a leader in the seed saving and seed education movement.
