SRSStrategic Readiness Support
Survey Report Complete

The Strategic Readiness Support (SRS) Activity, a project within the Technology Readiness Infrastructure Grant (TRIG), offered services to Michigan schools which were not ready for online testing. Its goals were to identify schools that were not online test-ready, implement strategies to ensure that the schools and school districts receiving SRS services became test-ready, and to find resources to sustain the high test-readiness levels at those schools.

As a result of this initiative, the SRS team executed a survey to examine the school readiness levels and support services that SRS was able to offer the schools. Twenty-two people, who responded to the May 2017 survey, represented all of the schools and school districts that received SRS assistance.

A summary of this survey's findings is below. To access the full survey, visit: SRS Survey Report

Summary
According to the respondents of this survey, the SRS Activity met its goals - and went beyond its goals - to help LEAs and PSAs become instructionally ready. Schools that were not ready for online testing, are now ready for both online testing and technology-infused instruction. Additionally, they now have resources and plans to sustain their readiness levels. Only one of the twenty schools was not ready for this testing cycle, but will be ready for the next testing cycle.

Equipment and Connectivity Components

The Strategic Readiness Support grant helped the schools:
  • Create visions
  • Recognize their technology needs
  • Make plans to address their technology needs
  • Funded technology acquisition, training, and connectivity
  • Develop partnerships
  • Provide coaches
  • Change the culture
The respondents had options to select categories of support and components within the categories, which they found helpful. They liked the flexibility and the ways in which the grant addressed the LEAs' and PSAs' unique technology needs.

Lastly, respondents expressed gratitude to the Project Manager who shared his vision and worked with them and their ISD technology teams to ensure their work would be accomplished successfully.

mdeSpring 2017 Preliminary Reports
This article has been taken from the
May 25, 2017 issue of Spotlight on Student Assessment & Accountability

The Preliminary Student Roster Report for M-STEP and MI-Access online assessments contain preliminary scale scores, points earned, and subscores (claim, strand, or discipline scores) by content area and grade. Reports are available within 48 hours of students completing all portions of a content area test.

Preliminary Student Roster reports are for school use only, and contain scores that are preliminary and subject to change. Preliminary scores are calculated using only machine-scored items available at the time the test is submitted. Constructed response items are not included in preliminary scores.

To view your school's Preliminary Student Roster Reports, review How to Access and Navigate Michigan's Interactive Assessment Reporting Site on the M-STEP web page ( www.michigan.gov/mstep) or MI-Access web page ( www.michigan.gov/mi-access) under the Reports section for step-by-step instructions on accessing the Dynamic Score Reporting Site. The Guide to Preliminary Reports is also available on the M-STEP web page ( www.michigan.gov/mstep) for information about the data contained in the Preliminary Reports.

Important: The data should not be used for any high stakes decisions (e.g. grade or course placement, curricular evaluations, teacher evaluations, etc.) for the following reasons:
  • scores presented in this report are PRELIMINARY and subject to change
  • preliminary scores are calculated using only machine-scored items available at the time the test is submitted
  • data presented in these reports are not a final evaluation of student performance
