DC MOVES - June 21 Forum
DC MOVES has organized and hosted five Forum events since April 2016. The Leadership Team has confirmed the plans for the next Forum scheduled for June 21, 2017. We are fortunate to have our presenters confirmed.
Please consider volunteering to present at a future Forum. We can provide a platform to share a profile of your organization including its purpose, people and plans. We are also offering the opportunity to engage Forum attendees in facilitated discussions about projects and programs you have in development.

Ontario Trillium Foundation Workshops
You are invited to attend an Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) GROW workshop in Orangeville. This hands-on workshop, led by experienced OTF staff, will walk you through a GROW application from start to finish. We would love to see you there!

After the GROW workshop on May 18, from 2:30 to 4:00 PM, at the same location in Orangeville, there will be a presentation from the Local Poverty Reduction Fund (LPRF). Please note, you can attend both the GROW workshop and the LPRF session, but you must register separately for each.
Objectives of the LPRF session:
- Learn more about the Fund
- Learn how to apply for LPRF funding and about the different supports available from the LPRF team
- Meet and network with other groups working on poverty reduction
- Share your ideas, ask questions and consult with a LPRF Program Manager
Who should attend?
- NFPs
- registered charities
- broader public sector organizations such as school boards
- universities and colleges
- municipal governments and district social service administration boards
- Indigenous communities and Indigenous-led organizations

Report Card Coalition Website
On our new website, you can:
- Read about the well-being of local children and youth
- Download up-to-date data for counties, townships and neighbourhoods
- Submit data requests
- Subscribe to receive Report Card updates.
It is now easier than ever to access local data about children and youth. The new website contains a live, regularly updated Data Portal. Here you can search for and download data related to a variety of well-being topics for children and youth. You can also download past Report Cards and read up on our initiatives. MCSS & MCYS offer ReportON Posters
The Ministry of Community and Social Services is committed to promoting the safety and well-being of adults with developmental disabilities and is taking important steps to support the prevention and reporting of abuse within the adult developmental services system. ReportON is a telephone line and email address to report actual or suspected abuse or neglect of adults with a developmental disability.
Consistent with the efforts to raise public awareness of the ReportON phone line and email address, we are sharing print-on demand posters that can be downloaded and posted within your offices and throughout your local communities to be made accessible to your staff, clients and their families.

Interesting facts about Volunteering
- Most work is done by a few volunteers
- Sports and Recreation and Social Services get the most support
- Younger Canadians are more likely to volunteer than older Canadians
- Volunteering is connected to early life experiences
- The most common activities are fund-raising and organizing events
- People volunteer their time to an organization because they want to support their community.
Check out the article for more information about the study based on data from the Canada Survey of Giving, Volunteering and Participating. When the survey was conducted in 2010, 15,482 respondents aged 15 and older provided input.
