POTL participants join a network of their peers in a series of learning experiences over 9 months, that help to enrich and benefit them, their practice, community, profession, and association.  Although the curriculum changes slightly from year to year, past POTL Leadership classes have addressed topics such as team building, staff leadership, effective communications, public speaking, best practices in practice management and personal wellness.

For more information about POTL, including what past participants have to say about POTL, please visit www.iowavma.org . The deadline for applications is July 1, 2017.

FDA's Veterinary Laboratory Investigation and Response Network (Vet-LIRN)
Veterinarians are being asked to help provide information to the FDAs Veterinary Laboratory Investigation and Response Network (Vet-LIRN).

The Vet-LIRN network
includes 38 veterinary diagnostic laboratories across the United States and Canada. Vet-LIRN's mission is to promote human and animal health by collaborating with veterinary diagnostic laboratories to investigate potential problems with CVM regulated products, animal foods and animal drugs.

Vet-LIRN relies upon veterinarians in the field to discuss potential food or drug reactions with owners.  It is essential for them to submit reports to FDA when an animal presents with illness attributable to bacterial or chemical contamination.  These reports and testing by our network diagnostic laboratory partners have resulted in the removal of potentially harmful products from the market and thereby reducing the chance of additional illnesses.
