Summer pruning keeps your spring flowering shrubs in prime condition!
Now is the best time to prune specific shrubs in your landscape.
Rhododendrons, azaleas, andromedas, lilacs and forsythia are just some of the shrubs that can be pruned now. These plants all form their flower buds for next year by August, so pruning now means you can reduce or maintain their size and shape without losing next year's flowers.
This is the ideal time to do any major reduction of size made to these shrubs as well as if they have gotten too big for the space they are in. Other shrubs like yew, boxwood and mugo pine can also be pruned now so that the new growth will have ample time to harden off before frost. Small trees up to 20 feet can also be pruned and shaped at this time. Crabapples in particular can be pruned now if you weren't able to have them done in late winter. Any extensive structural pruning on trees should be left until winter since there are no leaves and it is easier to see the internal structure of the trees.
If you do not have summer pruning as part of your ND contracted services, please give us a call and we would be happy to discuss your needs and give you an estimate!

CLASSIC CARE - ND'S FINE GARDENING SERVICE
|
Classic Care started over 20 years ago
and just might be what you need!
At ND Landscape, we know that life is busy. There is barely enough time to stop and smell the flowers, much less weed, deadhead and prune them. We also know that proper landscape maintenance increases the value of your home. With more than 30 years of service behind us and a team of horticultural specialists, we are the best choice for your gardening needs.
This program is meant for the discerning homeowner that wants their gardens groomed and maintained by professional horticulturalists. Our specialists will come to your property monthly, twice-monthly, or weekly. While on your property, they will perform various services such as bed maintenance, deadheading perennials and annuals, dividing and transplanting perennials, and when not covered under other components of your ND service contract, shrub and small tree pruning and weeding. When applicable, non-selective herbicide applications are done on hardscapes and open areas of planting beds to control weeds in these areas. If this a service you might be interested in, contact us for a free consultation on your property!
