On Monday, April 22, 2017 a team from Jasper County visited the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for a kick-off meeting with Commissioner Camila Knowles, her staff and the DCA resource team.
The next step will take place in June. DCA will be sending a resource team to Monticello-Jasper County.

Tremendous Entertainment was filming this past week around the Monticello Square.
They filmed drone footage of the Square as well as photographs around town for the show Haunted Towns on the Destination America Network.

The June class meeting focused on community.
Discussion throughout the day was about community development, economic development and leadership development. Pictured is one of the class activities.
Several organization groups spoke to the class and facilitator Bob Troutead with Troutead Consulting shared lessons on how to be a strong leader.

The Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring one of the five docks during the
Jackson Lake Poker Run
on June 17, 2017.
We are making 150 "swag bags" to hand out to the poker run participants when they stop by our dock to pick up their poker card.
Chamber Members - if you would like to put a promotional item, business card, or flyer into our bags please bring them by to the Chamber of Commerce office by June 10th.
If you would like to join us on the dock and volunteer - we would love for you to join us! Call us at 468-8994 to sign up for a time slot.
PLEASE NOTE: It has been suggested that you add something (a treat) to your business card or flyer to bring attention to your item. Example, staple individually wrapped mints on your business card, or tape a sucker on your flyer. The Chamber of Commerce is stapling a sample bag of peanuts to our brochure.

Well, in Georgia, if the town is small and the road is well traveled, you'll likely find a warm scratch biscuit most anywhere that sells tanks of unleaded. There's no local rule on how to make them. Some are giant, crumbly catheads; others are little misshapen drops.
