Dear parents and families,
"I have come to ask you to come here for six months on the 13th day of the month, at this same hour. Later I shall say who I am and what I desire. And I shall return here yet a seventh time."
This May we celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Fatima, Portugal. Our Lady’s appearances and the messages that she gave were a means by which God called all to prayer, sacrifice, and devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Our students have been praying rosaries all year long and offering special intentions as classes each week to our Lady.
Thank you to all who helped make our Saint Michael Auction and Hoe Down a massive success. The event was wonderfully attended and we raised over $16,000 for the school to invest in technologies for our students. Enough thanks could not go out to Mrs. Kennedy for leading the Auction Committee, as well as Mrs. Camarca for the decorations, and the whole PTO committee. The continuing support of our parents ensure that St. Michaels is always able to provide our students with all they need for their education.
Speaking of our wonderful PTO, our current board's term is coming to an end and we are in need of new PTO board members for next year. This is a very important element of our school and necessary to the success of all in our community. If you are interested in running for a position, please email Mr. Cinalli at
[email protected].
A big thanks goes out to Mrs. Taylor and all our staff for putting on a wonderful May Crowning prayer ceremony on Friday. The torrential rain required all students, teachers, parents, and staff to be flexible and creative, but the final service was beautiful and reverent. Our students even got some extra time with their Mass buddies to color pictures of Our Lady.
Our Band Concert will be tomorrow, Thursday, at 7:00 PM in the school cafeteria. From what I have heard through the office walls every Thursday, our eats are all in for quite a treat!
The final day of school this year will be on June 9th. PreK's last day is June 1st. Our 8th graders' final day will be on June 7th.
Parents, please send in your registration forms for next year. They are passed due, and registration for next year now goes on a first-come first-served basis for new families as well as returning families.
Interims will be sent home on Wednesday, May 17th next week.
The Cap. Club trip to the Newseum was rescheduled for May 20.
A Cap. Club service project to help the Archdiocese of Washington is scheduled for May 13.
God bless,
Daniel Cinalli
